Will Bob Beatty follow Bobby Petrino to U of L?

Featured Replies

This is a question that has me concerned. As I understand things, Beatty and Petrino are very tight. Petrino tried to lure Beatty to Arkansas. Coach Beatty has done all he can at the high school level. He is qualified to be a position coach on either side of the ball. The next month should be very interesting in Louisville.

Wow, hadn't considered that. If it happened, what side of the ball is Beatty more likely to coach?

Just an outsider looking in with an opinion but if the offer is on the table I don't see how Coach Beatty could say no.

I don't see it happening, but I didn't see Charlie Strong going to Texas either.

I should know this but how old is Beatty? His facial features are not very revealing to his age.

I ask because is he too old to be moving to another phase of his career? If Bob were young enough that he could take the experience to a head coaching job like at a WKU similar to Brohm, I agree, Bob would have a hard time passing up the offer. If he simply does not have enough years to get to that point, I could see the decision being more difficult for him.

Bob is about 58 or 59. He graduated from school in 78. Not too late to answer a new challenge. I hope he stays at Trinity, but he has earned the right to do as he wishes with the thanks and blessings of all at Trinity.

Beatty can do DBs, WRs, RBs. I hear John L Smith may be considered for special teams. Bob Beatty could handle this just as well. He even could perform as director of football operations! U of L would at least double is salary, if not triple it. He could do it for five years and then return to Missouri for the 1.5 years he needs for full retirement benefits. A U of L gig would be one more challenge for him and give him time with an old friend in Petrino.

Sounds like this could turn into a former head coach reunion. Maybe Krag and Cooper could come back for assistant coaching roles too with "the Pipe" coming out of retirement to be an associate Athletic Director.

If this happens, and the Rock football program implodes, THEN I'm going to be REALLY PEEVED at Charlie Strong!

If he graduated high school in 78, he should only be about 54.

What are the risks of hitching ones wagon to Petrino. If it earns you the label as a "Petrino guy" and you had any further/higher career aspirations I can't imagine it would be positive.

Can't see much hurting Beatty given his history.

That's when he graduated college.

Darn tootin sister

Well, I have no clue what he makes at T, but I would imagine that the dollar figures thrown at him would make it a no brainer. Does he teach?
