  1. What is everyone’s opinion of all these videographers all over the sidelines at games? Have heard AD’s across the state are putting in policies of only granting sideline video access to credentialed media, such as local news outlets. From afar it seems like a really good policy to have due to liability reasons at minimum. The ones I see on social media just seem to generate interest in clicks and getting a kid’s name on social media. There is very little to no impact on recruiting because that is done in person, camps or just simply watching hudl.
  2. No debate there, but I also wouldn't dismiss the All A Championship, which would be a normal championship in 49 other states.
  3. Does an All "A" State Championship not count?
  4. Does Fayette County allow the athletic director to also be the head coach?
  5. Ideally, the choice is the girls coach, Holthaus. If he doesn’t want it then it will get really tricky. The whole staff wasn’t retained. Not sure if any of the assistants taught on the campus. Next, you hope to find someone that matches a teaching opening. I’ve heard the Bowman fellows name mentioned and has a history at Cooper teaching I believe. That would not be a hire that moves the needle and likely a significant downgrade. Tough to attract a good coach from outside with such chaotic administration.
  6. The AD Borchers is taking a lot of heat and strays, but he was neutered from the whole situation. This deal lays at the feet of the principal. Then was backed by the superintendent. Wilson flew solo in this. He’s a bully with honestly little care for sports.
  7. And he was literally half a second away from winning a Super Bowl coming off of said knee injury. If he played for Pittsburgh, the whole city would worship at the shrine of St Joe.
  8. I posted this on the Steeler thread, but I doubt that they are.
  9. With Rodgers their ceiling is 9 wins. With anyone else still available their ceiling is about 7 wins. They haven't been a threat to win anything big in a decade. That won't change in 2025.
  10. Quarterback mediocrity is equivalent to quarterback hell. Every now and then teams may have good players around them to help soften the blow, but those teams are no threat to win anything big.
  11. I wasn't even factoring him into this. He will be placed on the PUP List, they'll get a chunk of money back on insurance, and then they will move on. Of the other four: Flacco, Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders I be shocked if it wasn't only two of them on the 53 man roster come opening week.
  12. I have no issue with taking either quarterback, and by no means am I a NFL GM, but like I said, they will not be carrying four of them. If they do, then they will remain the laughing stock of the league. As far as fifth round picks that is where they usually start turn from definitely gonna make the roster to project. Years ago I remember listening to (I believe) Herm Edwards say that your first-third rounders are being drafted to start, unless it is Love-Rodgers situation at QB, your fourth and fifth round guys should be guys that can make the team and help in some way, shape, or form right out of the gate, and around round 6 is when you start really taking projects. If Sanders is a project like a lot of the experts suggest, taking him in the 5th is fine. But taking him after taking another QB in the same draft just seemed foolish to me. Just get one or the other. The only time I can remember anything close to this was Washington taking RG3 and then Cousins a few rounds later.
  13. There is no way the Browns will be keeping four QB's on an active roster. Most teams have 2 active, maybe 3 (and those teams usually are terrible or have a starter who is hurt). But keeping 4 QB's on the 53, when you can only dress 46, not happening. Flacco or Pickett will be the starter, the other likely gets cut. After that, one of the rookies will make the 53. The other they will try to sneak thru waivers and place on the practice squad (if they are good enough to entertain the thought) but that likely doesn't happen if they both show any type of promise. One way or another, one of them picks was a waste.
  14. Newport is now in NKY D3 conference, rather than D2. This means that instead of playing a D2 schedule with the likes of Holy Cross, Scott, Beechwood, Lloyd, St Henry, Brossart, Boone Co, and NCC, they will now be playing a D3 schedule against Holmes, Heritage, Ludlow, Calvary Christian, Dayton, Bellevue, Williamstown, and Villa Madonna. The change was made with all sports in mind, not just Boys Basketball. Lucky for them, I believe D3 is no longer doing a home/home and will only play each other a single time. Or, I should say, lucky for the other D3 teams.
  15. CovCath reached out, they also offered Aric Russell big money too before going with Thelen.
  16. Was looking on KHSAA website earlier and saw the dates posted for 9th Region Tournament First Round 3/8 1:00, 2:30, 6:30, 8:00 Semifinals 3/11 6:30, 8:00 Finals 3/18 7:00 I don't know if I have ever seen a week off between the regional semifinals and finals. What is the logic behind this?
  17. Highlands will win 4A. They can do it on the ground and through the air. Much better up from on OL/DL. CovCath doesn’t have much of a downfield passing game. See it much like this year’s game.
  18. Absolute choke job by the Raiders. Turnovers and missed foul shots by Ryle up 10 with less than 4 to go.
  19. This is some serious soap opera material. A few observations here: When has the Catholic Church ever really told the truth? Private schools can hide behind curtains and hash out whatever they want and out of public purview. The superiors above the administration at Covington Catholic made the call. The admin at Covington Catholic are just following orders. Like it or not, that’s the deal. Ironic that the son is going after and publicly flogging the administration that covered and protected the one who had their HOF induction rescinded. There’s money involved Be it donor’s or a single donor warning of a closing their purse strings that is likely involved in this deal. It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds.
  20. The schedule is an issue if you're trying to build something. The past two seasons, Dixie has been, in my opinion, a top 8-12 football team in 5A. You wouldn't know it though because the schedule is brutal and unforgiving. I get wanting to challenge your guys, but the constant losses without a signature win can take it's toll when trying to build. Cooper and Highlands in district, Beechwood, CovCath, Ryle out of district. Ouch. I mean, last season, half their schedule went to the State Semi-finals or beyond. Highlands has moved classes and seemed to move on from the running clock games against Dixie. I would drop Ryle as well. No need to get beat up and blasted the last game of the regular season each year, especially right before the playoffs. I have no idea if they would do it, but a Lloyd/Dixie game should be played each year. Lloyd needs to improve their schedule and the two schools should be rivals given the proximity. The SK and Conner games will be battles year to year, and Scott/Boone Co still have their work cut out for them. Coach Burke puts in the time, builds relationships, and knows the game, but he isn't doing himself any favors with this schedule each season. They have had tough players like Armoni Gregg and Brach Rice, but have lacked a game changing athlete on the outside. Bryzgot and Morris are solid, but not speedsters. Dixie put up points last season with the ground game, but when teams stacked the box, they could only do so much. Mason Fields, from what I saw, improved throughout the season, but it's hard to judge his talent without athletes to throw to and a line that offered consistency. Too many drops from the wide receivers. If you watched the Colonels last year, you would realize that while they had some warts, the defense continues the be the issue. Dixie gave up over 40pts in 7 games last season. Yes, they were undersized for a 5A school, but I was often left scratching my head in the games I saw. They consistently gave up 3rd/4th and longs. The pass rush was non-existent most games, combined with DBs that get blown by routinely. For the life of me, I will not understand why Dixie plays so much press coverage. Lastly, if your going to move Armoni Gregg to RB, why not play him on defense, too? Before someone tells me that too much on him, see Cash Harney at Covington Catholic. Coach Burke started playing more guys both ways after his first season, but defensive philosophy remains an area of concern. As for next season, the "Seniors to be" went winless as Freshmen. Back then, the varsity coaches were also coaching the freshmen team. That was a disaster. I am happy to see that the Freshmen now have their own coaching staff in place to get the help and attention they need. I'd look for Golsby to improve and help with skill positions, while Chase Daniels can hopefully provide an anchor to the defensive line. Unfortunately, I fear they are looking at another 3-4 win season.
  21. Newport is about to see A LOT more zone defense.
