Coach Baker has resigned. 

Hard to see and believe what Dunbar has fallen to. This has to be a big time hire similar to what Scott Co did to get kids to stay at Dunbar.As well as a coach willing to put in A LOT of work and time with a start from scratch program. 

Dunbar can become competitive again if they forget about a name or "home run" and actually hire what they need. Hiring committees look too much for names and playing careers, neither of which, give you the ability to build and manage a high school program. My first question would not be who are you bringing in but rather how will you build a program with the blocks you will be given.

They do have two "retired" high school basketball coaches in the building.

One is Damon Kelley, now athletic director at Dunbar, who did a great job as head coach at both Lafayette and West Jessamine for many years.

Deron Norman, he was an assistant for Watson and Oakley at Dunbar then went to Frankfort and coached boys and girls there.

Does Fayette County allow the athletic director to also be the head coach? 

I have read some of the comments on this post, but I am still going to ask the question: is this a desirable job in Lexington? What are the facilities like? Do they have talent walking the halls, or have they all jumped ship to other schools?

It is a total rebuild from the bottom up. That is why the choice needs to be someone that has experience in doing so. 

Any word on this opening?  Summer games should be starting.
