Taylen Kinney indeed back at Newport next year?

I know social media isn't everything to some of the older crowd on here. But to these young athletes it's everything. How they build their brand, how they communicate with coaches and fans as well. I follow TK pretty religiously on all his social media, and his Bio has something new in it. Newport '26, would be a pretty significant update. Would love to have this confirmed one way or another!IMG_3020.thumb.png.b9df8171bd2c15185663a69a91dcab8f.png

Does Newport do NIL for players?

In Kentucky any athlete can sign with a school and earn NIL while in high school.

And didn't Pope just do a home visit with him?

Yeah he did. As well did Richard Pitino in house from Xavier! But it's also AAU season so just because he is in area doesn't mean necessarily he's gonna be at Newport next year. But again with the Kentucky NIL rule and him gonna be going to college locally, I think everything is lining up for him to play at Newport senior year.

Yamil is also playing for wildcat select this year, so that's another angle. End of day he is a top 20 recruit in the nation if the goal is to just cash in on the new college system I get it. But if goal is to be league bound, I don't get coming back to play D3 basketball.

Just wondering what Yamil has to do with this situation? Also what do you mean about coming back to play D3 basketball? And as bad as I would love to see TK back at Newport next year for my own selfish reasons, my intel has told me he will be playing at OTE. I will stay believing that so I don't get my hopes up and my heart broke if he doesn't come back to Newport. If he does in fact play for Newport it will be a nice exciting early Christmas present.

Newport is now in NKY D3 conference, rather than D2. This means that instead of playing a D2 schedule with the likes of Holy Cross, Scott, Beechwood, Lloyd, St Henry, Brossart, Boone Co, and NCC, they will now be playing a D3 schedule against Holmes, Heritage, Ludlow, Calvary Christian, Dayton, Bellevue, Williamstown, and Villa Madonna. The change was made with all sports in mind, not just Boys Basketball. Lucky for them, I believe D3 is no longer doing a home/home and will only play each other a single time. Or, I should say, lucky for the other D3 teams.

Newport is moving to division 3 next year. Pretty much as low as it gets in NKY. Plays I think 12-14 games against the smallest of the small. No bueno if his goal is the league, and if he's playing with yamil who is also at Newport all summer it definitely doesn't hurt newports chances.

Question on the D3 conference stuff. While Newport may be moving to D3 to benefit all of its other sports. Is it required that they have to play all the conference teams in basketball? Could the basketball team just opt out having to play those conference games, and just not qualify then for the D3 conference championship? Is there a rule against them opting out of actually playing the games? I would say Newport boys bball probably wouldn't care if they are not eligible to be conference champs, since they didn't play any conference games.

With Yamil being a senior I don't see that playing much of a role in anything IMO.

Does D3 affect Newports football team in any way?

I would hope Newport could get out of playing those 12-14 games in basketball because that's a big waste of everyone's time. Definitely don't see TK signing up for that. Newport stacked their schedule last year and he still by passed it.
