  1. He did for 5 state tournament appearances, but Bobby Keith also had other really good teams in the tournament too.
  2. Clay Co isn’t like the good ole days when Bobby Keith roamed the sidelines. The man was a great coach and I thoroughly enjoyed watching his teams in the Sweet 16.
  3. Couldn’t agree more with you. CovCath is still the heavy favorite.
  4. Very sad to see how low the Bulldog program has gone. Enrollment numbers have contributed to lack of talent roaming the halls in addition to bad coaching too.
  5. Yeah-in his time at Holmes he had the two worst seasons in Holmes history. Not sure how anyone could have faith in him
  6. Basically boring basketball. That makes sense now on the score.
  7. Sounds like the Colonels are as good as advertised as a top 3 team in the state.
  8. I think it is so sad that a varsity boys basketball game has both teams get 32 and 30 points.
  9. To me from what I have read and heard from good friends active in 9th region boys basketball, I will have to go with CovCath as the clear favorite. Someone could get hot and catch them on a very bad night, but I think it’s highly unlikely someone else goes to Lexington for the Sweet 16.
  10. Looks like there might be some good teams in the 9th this year but can’t see anyone stopping CovCath from making another trip to the Sweet 16. Sad to say this but their district has become so weak since Holmes is no longer relevant.
  11. Is it still called the Joe Stark court? I couldn’t see if the new floor stated that.
  12. Sorry—actually my fault as I didn’t read the thread subject as closely as I should have. With that being said, I am still gonna stick with my original statement that it will get challenged in court and my guess is that the court’s ruling will be in favor of the parent/student athlete.
  13. If you are reading it correctly as I have not read it, your #1 will get challenged in court because the governing bylaws for the KHSAA can only be applied for athletes in grades 9-12. This was explained to me a few years ago by an attorney friend who’s firm has actually represented a few families of athletes in lawsuits against the KHSAA in the past.
  14. You make valid points. But let’s look at this way; let’s make the team with the ball actually execute a play to score rather than them just playing keep away from the other team. I think you’ll find more true basketball fans would rather agree with this point of view.
  15. Not sure Phil Jackson could make a difference at Holmes these days. A coach can only be successful by the talent on the team and unfortunately the talent pool has run dry for the Bulldogs due to the major decrease in enrollment. Some will say I’m wrong, but people at the school have told me the same thing.
  16. Holmes has not been relevant in what 9-10 years? Have you seen any sign of that changing in the near future? The talent pool at Holmes is at an all time low. I, for one, would love for Holmes to be contenders again because the 9th region is so much better when Holmes is good, but I just don’t see that happening now or the foreseeable future.
  17. Holmes is a tough job these days with enrollment being down compared to the glory days. Talent pool just isn’t there as much anymore. Holmes most likely has seen its last regional championship.
  18. Yes—1979 Lafayette team with three first team all state players. Minniefield, Junior Johnson and Tony Wilson.
  19. Feel GRC will win but I have good friends from Bracken and will be rooting for the Polar Bears!
  20. IMO: player can never ever push an official. If this player is an underclassmen his playing career should be over. No room in basketball to tolerate any intentional physical contact from a player on an official.
