At times Villers has favored his knee in the second half of games. I would’ve thought about resting him after the Russell game.

Ok couldn’t remember with all the nicks and bangs they’ve had this year.

Is he out because of knee or leg injury? Watching the pregame he seemed to be walking ok but wasn’t sure of his injury. Villers at times still seems to favor his knee too

We got about 3” of snow today with less than inch expected overnight. Then at most flurries tomorrow the nor’easter is only bringing snow into the WV mountains so should be good to go.

Congrats to coach Tackett. Figured it was his job if he wanted it.

It seems their first match up each season has Ashland winning fairly easily but the rematch is almost always a great game.

Sorry haven’t kept up with where they’re at, me and brother had our aunt pass in October and then mom passed on December 18th and we had her funeral a week ago Wednesday. Talked to Tony for about 20 minutes at the funeral and if he knew anything he wasn’t saying.

Has me wondering if Ashland will still have the AIT.

It wasn’t until the article came out that everyone knew for sure he wasn’t coming back. Guess we’ll see soon enough which way Ashland goes towards their next HC

Many people have called and messaged, I really appreciate the outpouring of love and support. Nothing is wrong and nothing has happened, it is simply time to hang up the whistle and learn what else in life I can win at. It has been a good 29 years. December 16, 2021 Mr. Howard, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Conway and Tomcat Nation: After careful consideration I have decided to resign as head coach of the Ashland Football program. I have been extremely lucky to have 29 years doing something I love, 28 of those years as a Tomcat is an even bigger blessing. I am grateful for a career spent with some of the best mentors, coaches and players I could have asked for. The incredible families, fans, parents and support staff have also contributed a monumental amount to my success and the success of our program. The Tomcat community has been and continues to be a driving force behind the tradition and passion that motivates us as coaches and the players who are so eager to wear the maroon and white. I have made it my mission whether as an assistant coach or the head coach to bring honor to this program and to pour myself into generating consistently positive team attitudes as well as respectable records. However, above all the wins and accomplishments the most important treasure to me are the relationships I have developed, especially with my players and the hope I have made a positive impact on part of their lives, I know they have definitely done that for me. It has been an amazing journey and I will always be indebted to so many who have helped me through the most difficult times of my life. I am so appreciative to have been part of a great program, dedicated coaches, committed young men and giving parents. I believe this program is in a great position for continued success. The youth programs, the experience returning at the varsity level as well as a staff that is second to none in their commitment to the players will continue to have Tomcat Nation swelling with pride for years to come. I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to bring home a State Championship and to have shared my career with such a loyal tradition rich “FAMILY”. I have had a lifetime of friendships, enriching moments and memories as I have watched the transformation of boys into men year after year, numerous weddings, being able to coach both the fathers and the sons, milestone moments of a young man beaming with pride because he earned his first paycheck. I could go on and on about players’ prideful moments and being the guy many come to in joy, heartbreak, anger or just to get something off their chest. It’ll be interesting to see which way they opt to go. My son now says him asking them what they were going to do in class in the new year makes more sense now.

Congrats cheese!! My down falls was weeks 2 and 4 and thinking JC might have an early Christmas gift but then Male torpedoed my already listing ship?

I figured Ashland would be without Porter and probably Villers but a little surprised about the playing time of the other 3 but it did give the JV guys some serious playing time against a extremely good team and can only help them improve.

I haven’t talked to him in a few weeks but my son has him for advanced PE and he was talking to the superintendent most of their class today.

When I was still filming for Ashland the only thing I really thought was new bleachers and press box although it’s always seemed a little dark in the corners of the end zone.

Congrats to Belfry that early season war of a scheduled has them ready. East Carter should be a much better program moving forward and congrats on a great season.

I thought it was just a by a few boys that landed them in 3A and not knowing the enrollment levels currently or what is coming up in the elementary and middle schools for both they could be a big 4A but either way you’re going to either face JC or travel for 5A.

I’ve seen East 3 times this year but Belfry’s early season test has them more than ready for this game. I can see it being close for the first half but I don’t think East has the man power to withstand 4 quarters of pounding.

Raceland’s defense has been solid all season and is one of their best in recent years and their offense has improved the entire season. I’d think it could still be a close game but wouldn’t be surprised by a 14-17 point win. Weather other than dropping temperature thru the mid 40’s to upper 20’s should be good with sun all day Friday. Good luck to both teams and safe travels for Bishop Brossart.

Ok I knew he transferred in but thought I heard Dicky say at the beginning of the year he was from Oklahoma.

I know of a few parents in the Ashland/Boyd Co to Greenup Co that held their kids back in grade school and these boys are in high school now but not in numbers to form a super team. Ashland had a transfer from Oklahoma but not sure if it was done for extra year or not.
