I think he is retiring from teaching and that is where some of the talk is coming from I believe. With his retiring he would have to step down and the coaching position posted but he could reapply and still coach. I know that is what Coach Chalk did at Dunbar the year he retired from teaching and went on to just coach for a couple more seasons but his job was posted the year he retired.

May well be the case. I've just got to wonder in light of winning a state championship in 2020, and having to put up with 2 years of the COVID scheduling nightmare, whether or not Hall is considering actually RETIRING retiring.

Coach Love was hired as an assistant at Ashland in 1994 when David Arthur took over as head coach and has been there ever since. I believe he was hoping to get the job in 2003 when Leon Hart took over from Larry Hall...but waited for the position until 2013 when Coach Hart departed. He spent quite a few years as head wrestling coach too.

81-29 record as head coach. An undefeated 3A state championship season in 2020. 53 years old. Doesn't seem like he'd be too crazy to trade in the whistle for a fishing pole...but I guess we'll see.

Thats the rumor I've been hearing for a couple days but nothing official yet about retiring from both. I heard people are trying to talk him out of hanging up the whistle. We will see with both though.

I haven’t heard a thing. I kinda figured he’d stick around to become Ashland’s All Time Winningest Coach, but you never know. 

I haven’t talked to him in a few weeks but my son has him for advanced PE and he was talking to the superintendent most of their class today.

Tony's an awful good man and football coach. Wish him the best, whatever he decides.
