Scoring by quarters:

Ashland 16 13 19 13=61

Ballard 25 20 24 21=90

Anyone outside of Ashland surprised?

Ashland basically played their junior varsity for 75% of the game. Star point guard Colin Porter didn’t dress due to injury. Leading scorer Cole Villers played 10 minutes and tweaked his injured leg and never returned. Sellars, who scored 34 the night before,  played 12 minutes. Atkins played 13 minutes. And fifth starter Carter played 20 minutes. That is a recipe for a blowout.

Ballard is good, real good, but with everyone healthy there is no way they beat Ashland by this margin. It would most likely be single digits. But make no mistake the Bruins are the best in the state.

I don't think that the Ballard coaching staff would automatically pencil in a win if they were to meet up with a healthy Blazer team. I would also think that the Ashland coaching staff will find several positives in this loss.

I figured Ashland would be without Porter and probably Villers but a little surprised about the playing time of the other 3 but it did give the JV guys some serious playing time against a extremely good team and can only help them improve.

I agree 100%

Post game radio said Porter and Villers would not be playing in Tuesday’s game. Hopefully the rest will help quicken their recovery.

To add to my previous posts, Porter and Villers have D-1 offers and Porter, a junior,  has already committed to Liberty University. Sellars has offers from some D-2 schools. Those are the top 3 players on Ashland’s team and they played a total of 22 minutes (0+10+12) of a possible 96 minutes total of what the 3 could have played. Those 3 are difference makers and their absence in the Ballard game was huge. But the positive is the JV got some valuable experience against top notch talent.

It will be be a single digit game with a 50/50 outcome.  Ashland is as good as any team in the state when Porter Carter Villers and Sellars are on the court healthy.

To add another couple bits of information.  Yesterday's starters for Blazer against Gwinnett Georgia played only 59 minutes of a possible 160 tonight against Ballard.  This meant that the Ashland subs played 101 minutes against the preseason #1 ranked team in Kentucky and shot 43.5 percent on 10 of 23 shooting. My thoughts is that the Ashland coaching staff should be less concerned than the Ballard coaching staff on their respective teams performances in this game especially when you consider that the Ballard team pressed the whole game.

Did Miles Franklin play for Ballard? I'm assuming the Trinity transfer still hasn't been ruled eligible.
