  1. Hard to believe no one thinks a 14x state champ and winner of 22 straight returning damn near everyone from last years state championship team, including Mr Football has no chance.
  2. Watching the game last year, I wondered why LCA did not give Brown the ball more often. If memory serves me correct he had about 15 carries for close to 150 yards. I would think this year Beechwood will see a heavy dose of Brown in the backfield. Beechwood defense has been stout, so if Brown is able to get 25 carries at 7/8 yards a pop with the ability to break one at anytime it could be tough sledding for the tigers. The Beechwood defensive line rotation will be interesting to watch as well. Slusher has played minimally on defense this year, I would think he would be more heavily involved Friday. Hopefully the game is as intriguing as last year, without the turnovers and penalties.
  3. Maybe Eddie should break into the gymnasium and steal the 513 rolodex! I kid, I kid! CCH will be just fine. They had a run of high level football talent like they’d never seen. That’s not to be expected every year!
  4. Cam is a nice player. unfortunately I believe if teams key on Cam and stop him, Beechwood may struggle this year. Not a lot of varsity experience. Hopefully, the concept of team basketball will prove me wrong. They haven’t had a lot of that the last few years.
  5. While what you say is accurate about being consistent regional contenders, that would not be true if they were still in the 9th. I believe the move to the 10th has been a huge plus and driver in the improvement of Scott athletics. If they were still in the 9th, the limited ability to win the region would lead to top talent going elsewhere even more regularly. There have definitely been Scott teams that could win the 9th in certain sports/seasons, but I do not believe we would be calling them a consistent regional contender if they were still in the 9th. Good for Scott though!
  6. Any clue how all tourney team is picked? Having watched a few St Henry games this year I find it hard to believe they made it through without #17 being a difference maker. That girl was everywhere when I watched them play previously!
  7. Oh, The irony in a Highlands fan being concerned about the # of points scored!
  8. Just imagine if the Beechwood reclassified kids were from Ohio. This site would be broke!
  9. But what if the backups repeated a year of school?
  10. Anyone know if they clear the gym in between matches of the semis?
  11. Agreed the two Hail Marys didn’t make a lot of sense at the very end!
  12. Dixies decisions on 4th down a bit puzzling this evening. Coach Brossart may want to apologize to the kids for the one at the end of the first half. May not have changed the outcome, but surely didn’t help Dixie.
  13. Beechwood and LCA are both really, really good football teams. Both are likely top 10 teams in the state regardless of class. Based on schedules the argument for LCA being a top 5 team can be made. In most years Beechwoods record and margin of victory against this schedule would be putting them in the same argument, but the reality is the schedule this year is good in name only. CCH is a good football team but they are nothing compared to years past. They are an above average 5A team this year and that’s it. They could lose in the second round of the playoffs and no one would be surprised. Watching that 2A championship game it felt like LCA was the more talented team but Beechwood made the plays that counted and pulled out the victory. If they played 10 times I would guess a 6-4 LCA outcome. Now having said that without seeing LCA this year or looking at their roster (other then knowing almost everyone returned) Beechwood had major contributions from a number of sophomores last year. I believe there is typically the biggest jump in size and maturity from sophomore to junior year and that is driving Beechwood success. Berger, Campbell and Waddell are all over the place and leading that defense. Maybe LCA had the same luxury of big time sophomore contributors last year that have grown and matured even more, I don’t know. With that said, Beechwood is a significantly better football team this year then last year. LCA may be as well, I don’t know but hopefully we get another dandy of a championship game to determine that. Whomever gets that one seed (assuming it’s a 2 horse race) has a huge advantage as that 1/4 semifinal will be a cakewalk compared to the 2/3 game against Mayfield. Mayfield is mayfield and will be rough, it’s just hard to judge how tough with their schedule. That’s not a knock on their schedule, it just seems those western teams don’t venture East much to get a good gauge.
  14. Satterfield was only named the coach at Hughes roughly 6 weeks ago. Wonder what happened for him to abandon ship?
  15. Pretty drastic change of mindset over the last 26 days or so. Did he have anyone transfer out?
  16. With losing only one starter to graduation how are 9th regions teams going to compete with CCH next year? The other top teams in the 9th are senior led. I guess the answer is: they won’t!
  17. #32 for Ludlow can play! She has to be one of the better players in the region.
  18. #1 goes down Lady Raiders struggled against the press at times and trailed by double digits but fought hard to pull out a victory!
  19. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ajc.com/blog/high-school-sports/four-questions-with-camden-county-head-coach-bob-sphire/cIQUC6m7iawzkJ6nOGPcNJ/%3foutputType=amp Some of those comments should be a breath of fresh air to the bird contingency!
  20. Beechwood resorted to individual ball in the 4th quarter. Lots of questionable shots and missed free throws!
  21. There is no point at the moment .. I guess the point is parents of Diocese basketball players now have more factors to consider when making high school enrollment decisions. I would think this new decision factor benefits St Henry more then any other NKY school long term.
