  • I respect Beechwood and NCC as programs.  Do I think NCC could beat Raceland and/or Pikeville, sure it's possible and not a stretch to say so.  I think Beechwood is probably better than Pikeville, but

Beechwood wins but I expect a closer game than most would think.

Nobody giving the Breds a shot in this one.

Worked this game several times. Always a battle. The Breds will play tough, but the Beechies may be a little better.  Both have an easy first and probably second round playoff game so this will be a great tune up and allow both squads a nice test.

This is a good test for Beechwood prior to the playoffs to see where the offense and defense stands without Berger. Last week I believe the Freshman could have come in and held their own against Newport who has struggled all year. NCC is going to challenge Beechwood upfront and force them to be uncomfortable which they need with some of the new players coming in. I still believe Beechwood can make a nice run in the playoffs and maybe to the State Championship game but they need this type of test to show they can.

I agree

NCC needs the boost in the RPI.  Sitting at 6 currently in 1A puts them in a tough spot not only to be going on the road, but also getting Raceland and Pikeville in earlier rounds if they can't get a spike in the RPI with a W over Beechwood.

A win means just as much to Beechwood to avoid Mayfield/LCA in semi finals.

Yeah I wouldn’t expect to see the tigers resting up for playoffs. This game means more than just a W on the schedule. RPI playing a huge role, this game could have some big weight to it, despite NCC being 1A.

I know we have NCC ranked #3 in 1A as the "best of the rest" after Pikeville and Raceland but nothing about NewCath makes me think this game will be anything other than a running clock.

Beechwood gets this win. NCC has some players, but the overall talent of Beechwood will wear down NCC.

Put lightly, that doesn't bode well for the Breds hopes to avoid a running clock Friday night. Aside from that, this has been a massive one sided game since 2014. If you take out the outlier NCC win in 2019, Beechwood is averaging 40 points while allowing only 12. NCC has some nice players, but not enough depth to hold off this Tiger offense.

I want to see NCC do well to raise the level of competition at the top of 1A, but I truly expect Beechwood to win by the 40s.   If that happens, the RPI doesn't really matter for NCC, they will likely get beat by either Pikeville or Raceland in the semi-finals.  If NCC can keep it close, they have a legitimate shot for a Championship appearance.
