Cov Cath freshman QB Dylan Gaiser has really nice composure in the pocket and is one of the better running QB's I've seen in blue and white in several years. His passes aren't bad...could use a little more zip on the ball in most cases, but he's looking solid.

WR/DB Donovan Bradshaw is a weapon. A 6'5" freshman...his legs alone are a major advantage, plus he's definitely gonna win basically every "jump-ball" reception at the freshman level.

The Colonels need to work on their offensive line. (At the varsity level, too.) Campbell County had at least one if not two players in Cov Cath offensive backfield more plays than they didn't.

Luke Lampe, Anthony Foote and Tucker Evans are some other really nice athletes on the team.

Campbell County's second touchdown, late in the 4Q, was pretty suspect due to a missed holding call. Their wideout grabbed the cornerback by his outside arm and pulled it around behind him to turn him around and allow the sweeping runningback to get around the outside and score. The wideout was pulling so hard that when the cornerback finally pulled his arm free, the wideout tumbled backwards on to his rear end.

I was also confused why, when they were down by 5 points with 1:03 left in the game, Campbell County decided to kick their kickoff deep rather than going for an onside kick.

Trevor Bertram is definitely the best player on the field for Campbell County. He's a really nice athlete.

Nathan Russell will be a solid RB for the Camels if he can get a little more light on his feet. He hits the hole fast and runs hard, but he needs to work on being a little more elusive. Once he puts that together he'll be the real deal. Robinson was another really solid player for Campbell County on offense.

It was interesting that they brought in QB Frost in do-or-die situations while they were playing Anthrop (sp?) at QB for 95% of the offensive snaps. I'm curious what the reasoning was there.

Thanks for the insight!
What weight range is the Bradshaw kid?

The kicker was told to kick it onside.

He's pretty lanky...maybe a buck-seventy?

Very lean.  He will get even better as he fills out his tall frame.

Thanks for the info!
Agree, he looks lean. Tall and young enough to add some weight.

What's the early word on him as far as continuing to play football with his massive potential on the basketball court? Will he play both?

How does the qb compare to some of the other freshman qbs (Beechwood, SK, Ryle) that I’ve seen talked about on here? With the Beechwood and SK freshman getting varsity reps out of necessity.

I have no inside information, but I will be shocked if he continues to play football.  Of course, that will be blamed on some nefarious behavior by someone instead of just plain 'ol common sense for a kid who is a HIGH LEVEL basketball player.  ?

He is good, but IMO I would put him behind the 3 QBs you mentioned at the moment. Also don’t leave out Cam O’Hara who could possibly be the best out of that group you mentioned. He is a freshman at Cooper, and has been the starting varsity QB at Cooper all year. Which he is starting because he simply won the job over the summer, and not starting out of necessity.

A lot of good QBs in the freshman class this year in NKY.

A couple thoughts after getting through couple games.

- Dylan Gaiser at QB is really good; I think he's clearly the best player on the team. He kind of reminds me of the kid that played QB for Bowling Green when they beat us in 2020. Super athletic and has a good enough arm to win a bunch of games at the varsity level as he gets older. I think, ideally, we have a guy come in the cycle behind him that's a better passer and have Gaiser play RB/WR and Corner. However, if he had to start in 24, he would be more than capable of getting the job done. I think he's athletic enough to get touches next year at RB or WR, even with 90% of the skill player production returning.

- I really hope Donovan Bradshaw sticks with football. He's huge and isn't a straight line only receiver; he had more quicks than I expected. I think he would get a bunch of PT rotating in with Braylon Miller next year at receiver, especially as a red zone weapon.

- We are continuing to stack good classes of TE/DE/LB body types. 5, 41 and 45 stood out to me as those type of players. I’m not sure they are good enough to get a lot of time next year, like Gaiser or Bradshaw, but they each should be able to contribute and be good players as juniors and seniors.
