I agree totally with 1Forrest1's comment on the "poor sport." Everyone hates to lose when you're competing, but, this is obviously a learned behavior from what I observed unfold after the final buzzer. Those involved should be embarrassed, but, ..... they won't be. Did anyone see the towel being thrown on the floor during the last minute of the game ? It happened right in front of me and I'm pretty certain it was a player's Dad who threw the towel into the middle of the play as the play was ending and a whistle was being blown. The Dad jumped up in disgust and hustled out to the concourse before the police could intervene. A towel being thrown onto the floor in the middle of play is a really good way for a player to step on the towel, blow a knee, ankle, or have any other injury. Those of us who have watched these kids play and develop over the past several years have observed this radical behavior from several of the parents involved. It's not isolated to these two teams, but these dudes have crossed the line and something needs to be done. I can imagine the outcome if a player had gotten hurt. I'd imagine the dude throwing the towel might not make it out of the building, just saying. It's crazy, but, so are the parties involved. JMO

Is there any streaming ?

This was a really good game and a nice effort by a decimated Beechwood team. The Tigers are playing lots of 8th and 9th graders due to injuries and players missing for other non basketball reasons. Good Win.

If they held this event at a large venue like UC, NKU, or X it would be even worse. There were maybe 200 total in attendance at the most for a given game. Host it at St. Henry's gym is the better alternative.

I never liked the hire of KP when it happened. UL is too accomplished to have a first time HC, even if it is a beloved former player and current assistant coach (when he was hired). No doubt, KP is a great man, nice person, and knows basketball; but, he is not a HC at a major D1 program. He just has the wrong disposition to be a HC. With that being said, who is the likely successor if they let KP go? Most all of the other UL programs, both men's and women's, are at, or near the top of their respective sports; Volleyball, Women's BB, Football, Baseball, etc., but the Men's BB program is a mess. Who do you think can get us back on track?

I wish baseball fields would go to the synthetic sand. The rubber destroys baseballs, making them gray very quickly. White pants also get grayed out when sliding. The synthetic sand is a much better option IMO.

Now that Trevor Bauer has been cleared, he needs to be pursued by the Reds and brought back. He was totally rail-roaded by the MLB and will be hungry for a fresh start. He would be a veteran arm that could help to solidify the rotation.

A couple of observations on the topic. One of the locals told me that the Campbellsville University baseball team plays on this field and they have a distinct advantage because it becomes difficult at times for visiting outfielders to play balls on a surface that has all the football yardage markers, numbers, etc. He said balls drop, players fall down, players look like they have vertigo in the OF at times (visiting teams.) In the All-A, I saw one OF make a play on a ball and fell flat on his butt, to his point. Another observation, the CF fence is between 290-315 at best. Many of today's HS players are grown men and we saw what should be fly ball outs to CF get put in the stands for HR. Beyond that, the OF wall is about 75 yards in length of a football bleacher stanza which plays like a brick wall. Again, saw an OF crash into the wall in CF and he said it was like hitting a "brick wall." The OF fence dimensions are goofy to say the least. The manner in which the fence triangulates to two points in the power alleys, then cut back in approaching CF. It just plays weird and I didn't like it. No one I spoke with liked the way the field set up for the reasons I mentioned above. However, the Campbellsville people were very nice, the turf is very nice, the All-A tourney staff did a nice job. We just assumed that a "power to be" must either live close to Campbellsville or the $ for the field was right for them to have this as the tourney host location. Put me down for one of the bigger college or semi pro venues as in years past. It was a far better experience. $ drives everything, so I get it.

Heard that Ross Hart was given the HC job at Beechwood. Official announcement forthcoming?

Who's next man up here?

For every one that's offered that young, there's at least one that the offering school forgets about when the time comes when the player finishes their high school career.

I'm still confused? Did some of the WC contributors come from BG or other schools? What's the story, what's the Coach's story?

Anyone know if this is a football coaching hire only or is he getting a position as a teacher in the building too?

For those of us unfamiliar, what's the background on this group? Background on the coach?

McCune is the best player on the floor. His length causes trouble and he has blocked a 6'10" Evans at least 2x. He should be playing somewhere in college next year. Hart is a nice player, but IMO McCune is way more versatile and is a much better defender. Evans has a high ceiling at 6'10", he just needs more time. I like E-town's quick guards on defense. Good game.

Someone who knows better than I; why do we have no Prep schools in KY? Is that considered a “charter school”?

I attended the 9th Region boys tournament, all games. I was amazed at the number of band members schools like Cooper had and how awesome they played and got the energy up in the arena. Newport, conversely, had 6 - 8 total members in their pep band. It was "not good" to say the least, akin to a kazoo band. However, it was awesome to see that a school like Newport, with limited numbers, put the effort into making the trip and playing at their highest level at the tournament. I thought their participation said a lot about their band program, kids, and school. Kudos. Conversely, some schools, like Beechwood, didn't even have a pep band in attendance. To me that's 100 % weird. I wasn't aware of all of the KHSAA Regionals, UCA Nationals, exhibitions / showcases, and NHSCC events for cheerleading. I thought school cheerleading was for supporting other sports, like football and basketball. (boy's and girl's) My understanding was that cheerleading was a sport, and their "game day" was during these school events. Your information of all the other events makes total sense to me now that it's explained. The Martin Co. / Pike Co. Central colab is one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time. That's one thing, IMO, that the Eastern, Southeastern, & Western schools have over the more populated areas of the State of KY - taking care of one another. I love to hear of schools / kids coming together to get this done. Amazing.

Side note, I love that the 8th Region has games online. GLICOD and Pegasus Sports are great for the Oldham schools and the 8th Region. I was able to watch both games, where being an hour and a half drive away would not have allowed me to see the games otherwise. How lucky. I wish the 9th Region had such access. The guys did a great job calling the game, they even have instant replay capabilities. Big time broadcast. Thanks

With the season and scrimmages starting soon, I'm looking for input on some of the top pitchers in the 9th Region. We can open it to Statewide, but specifically I'm interested in the 9th. Have any kids not returned to teams that played last season(s), are there any newcomers or transfers to watch for, and are there any injury updates that we may not be familiar with. Who will be each teams #1 in their rotation ? A few to start with: Oliver Kerns at Conner is returning after having missed '22 as a JR with ACL surgery. Kerns is committed to playing at the University of South Carolina - Upstate. Brody Mangold is a hard throwing right hander from Conner who is committed to playing at Wabash Valley JUCO. Mitchell Berger, a First Team All-State 2 way player from last season at Beechwood, will likely miss the entire '23 season with having had knee surgery sustained while playing football. I understand there is an underclassman P at Ryle who may be really good, as time goes on? Jack Hendrix at Highlands, likely their #1, remains unsigned ? Probably a P in college when he commits. Others ?
