There is no doubt that Noon is a gifted athlete that can impact the game. He can look and be very good. I just hope that he doesn't try to do too much against a better team like Ryle. The Birds' offensive line will need to give Noon time to throw and Noon will have to throw it rather than just tuck it and take off. Also, if Ryle decides to come out and just run the ball and maintain possession, it could be a long night for Highlands' defense. I could see Ryle with 60-65% time of possession. The Birds' must get a couple turnovers and win special teams. It's going to be a good game. Highlands by 4.

It certainly does sound like BW is loaded. Quick Question: Does the Ryle Frosh team still have all of the boys that played for their State Championship team when they were 7th graders? That team was absolutely dominant the entire season.

Something in the 42-13 range seems about right to me.

I think it's more about the feeling and the excitement that the Birds have the right person that will finally use the talent that has been in the program and also bring better schemes and game prep. Over the years, Highlands Frosh team has won 8-9 games nearly every year. The varsity team should have been able to consistently win at least 7 games and probably 8-9 games every year too. The talent has been there to compete and to be a very successful and winning program. Has the talent been there to win state? Maybe, who knows? But, now that they have the right Leadership that will emphasize player development on top of everything else that he seems to be doing right, I think we'll find out in the next couple of years.

Do the SK Pioneers have any players returning for their Supplemental School Year (5th year)? Impact players?

The Birds will definitely be a much improved team this year with better schemes and better talent utilization on both sides of the ball. That being said, BG in week 1 is a true challenge for a program that is rebuilding. Hell, BG in week 1 is a true challenge for 99% of the teams in the Bluegrass. I expect this to be a low scoring, close game with a margin in the 4 - 8 range.

Plus the Birds dropped several big passes that would have likely led to additional scores. I can think of about 5 or 6 passes downfield that were "on the money" but not completed. Those things need to get cleaned up.

I thought the Birds frosh held their own against Male. Yes, they did look a little sloppy at times but I don't think they looked overmatched.

Is there a current list of school districts that have voted for/against the Supplemental School Year Program?

How many districts do you think will actually vote to allow the SSYP? From what I have heard, I think that Fort Thomas Independent Schools (Highlands) has already voted NO. It seems to me that districts/boards that vote YES will have potentially have an advantage over those that vote NO.

So we're talking about: Trinity, St X, DeSales, Lexington Catholic, Covington Catholic, Newport Catholic, St. Henry, Holy Cross, Owensboro, Covington Latin, and Villa Madonna and then a handful of other smaller private Christian Schools?

Personally, I don’t like it. The vast majority of the 2021 seniors played their seasons.

Must the 2021 Senior remain at the same school or may the 2021 Senior opt to play elsewhere? And down the line... May the current 2022 Senior opt to play elsewhere for the 5th year?

After the game, the CovCath radio broadcast team said that they saw Vieth down on the court holding his leg in pain. Has anyone heard any updates to that observation by the CCH radio team?

Ryle and Dixie will be tough games but Highlands should win.

That's a good take and good insight into the situation.

Also, playing on a college sized court (94ft) versus a high school sized court (84 ft) makes a difference when playing a team that likes to press and smother like CovCath. That extra 10 feet makes a big difference.
