Should be 4 great 1st round games. I'm intrigued with the Friday games, in particular Holy Cross and Dixie. Dixie's played at NKU twice this year, so they'll be used to the length of the court and shooting there. I think the last time Holy Cross played at NKU was 2 years ago for district. I think HC is the favorite but Dixie will make it a close game

What are some pregame and postgame traditions at some of the high schools across the Commonwealth? Like a pregame walk up, running through a fog machine to a certain song, student section sprinting to their seats, etc. And no, saying winning at schools like Mayfield, Trinity, Highlands does not count. For example, I don't know if they still do it, but Covington Holy Cross used to have a "bucket band" parade before the homecoming game. Students marched from Holy Cross down to Holmes (about a mile long walk) hitting buckets through the neighborhood and throughout the game

He's been playing, he's healthy enough. Don't know if he's 100% but he looked like he's comfortably working around it

I think HC matches up well with CCH, and they've already proven they can beat them. But CCH is on fire right now, don't think it'll happen Saturday

Great stuff from the Crossbacks! Back in the regional tournament for the 1st time since 2004.

Throw the records out when it's tournament time, Kes Murphy and the Crossbacks have the post season experience. Tough loss for the Pandas, but they had a great season and will be back in the regionals soon

My memory might be off here, but I was in Louisville in the late 90s and I remember a district game where Ballard was the 1 seed and played Waggener who was hosting districts and to avoid confusion, they made Ballard the away team. This has happened at a few other places too.

How many people outside of the 8th region think Williams is the lock for Mr. Basketball? Taylor County got off to a sluggish start, but have been 13-2 in their last 15 games. I would vote for Williams but I could still see Goodin win it

Anytime CovCath wins in the district it usually isn't an upset, but... 2012 at Regents Hall, CovCath (16-12) vs. Cov. Holy Cross (28-2). Holy Cross was ranked top 20 most of the season and won the All A. CovCath played a tough schedule and it was Ruthsatz 1st season. Holy Cross had multiple chances to put CCH away before overtime and in the 1st and 2nd OT, but CCH kept finding ways to stay in the game. Tony Campbell heaved a full court shot at the end of the 2nd OT that hit off the front of the rim. In the 3rd OT Ruthsatz and Tobler took over and like 1995, ended the season for one of the HC's best teams. Final 81-74 in triple overtime. Awesome game

CovCath is the obvious favorite in the 35th, on a shorter court Holmes and HC could make those games really uncomfortable for the Colonels. Great article Walter!
