Possible 9th Region Matchups

Featured Replies

I know its a little bit Pre-mature with the Beechwood/Holy Cross game still to be played tonight but thought I would atleast throw out some scenarios of how it could play out.

Teams IN- Conner, Cooper, NCC, Newport, St. Henry, Dixie, CovCath

Pending- Holy Cross/Beechwood

My predictions as follows-

33rd- Cooper Champ

Conner Runnerup

34th- St. Henry Champ

Dixie- Runnerup

35th- CovCath Champ

Beechwood/Holy Cross Runnerup

36th - NCC Champ

Newport Runnerup

If Beechwood pulls off the upset again of HC then it looks like most of the Champs in their respective Districts should be favored in their 1st round games.

2nd round games look to be a little bit more exciting to me.

Cooper vs NCC or CovCath

St. Henry could be a darkhorse as well. We all know Dave Faust is the most underrated coach in the REgion.

Very well done, and quite subtle, Q-Ryche. :bunny:

Hey man, its all speculation. LOL

I may be eating crow though....I cant help but pick some of the favorites.

Since there is some civility in this thread I will offer this up. If Cooper is without McNeil and Kunkel, Conner can certainly play with and defeat them. The Scott kid might be the best kept secret in the region. I also think that Dixie wins the 34th. Chevy has done a good job with that team this year and while not setting the world on fire offensively, they seem to be 'in' just about every game they play. Agree on NCC and CovCath.

I would also almost bet that CovCath and NewCath will end up on the same side of the bracket. Seems to happen almost every year.

If NewCath and CovCath are on the same side that sets up Cooper quite nice.

Good call, Captain.

I try. Love the sarcasm. But I deserve that one.

NCC may want to get that tough one out of the way and coast to Rupp Arena...:idunno:

As is always the case the draw will be the biggest factor. Covcath is the obvious favorite, but in my opinion 4-5 teams could reach the final against them if the draw works out for them.

IF Cooper is healthy

IF NCC can stay away from CC's side

IF Holy Cross can be opposite of NCC AND CovCath (Covcath is a given obviously being in the same district)

IF Conner can avoid Covcath (they can beat anyone else if they play well)

IF St. Henry can avoid CovCath (I believe the same about SHDHS as I do about Conner)

Gonna be a fun 9th. Dixie and Newport also are both solid teams, but MAY be in over their head.

Doubt we see Cooper at full strength for the region tourney....should get McNeil back but I don't know about Kunkel....

What are the dates for the regional?

Conner/Cooper really messed things up for you, Captain.
