  1. Trying to remember stats and games and opponents is a lot for my small brain, so I went to the KHSAA website because from what I rememberCarson had his best games and scored the most points vs the "big" boys. Someone on here mentioned his stats were inflated because Owen's schedule was soft. South Laurel 24 Henry Clay 33 Trinity 24 Taylor Co 28, 11 rebs, 8 ast Ballard 24 Simon Kenton 33 North Laurel 43 North Oldham 32 Anderson Co 32 South Oldham 40 Oldham Co 29 South Oldham 38 Not to shabby. I also notice that against some of his lesser teams he didn't score much, probably played half the game. Don't talk about scoring on weak teams if haven't looked at the stats. 2016 Mr. Basketball - Carson Williams
  2. Amen!!! This thread (which I'm not sure who started this thread ) was about who you thought would win Mr. basketball in KY, but it's gotten off track a bit. Thanks for getting us back on track.
  3. Everybody should vote for this Kentucky kid (the only KY kid in contest) everyday and help get him to Houston for All-American dunk contest. It would be cool to a kid from KY on TV.
  4. WOW is right!!!! Everyone should go vote for this kid. He's the only Kentucky kid in the event, and it looks like he'll make it to the Final 4 round today. It would be pretty cool to see a KY kid on TV in a dunk contest.
  5. Just for the record this thread was started for people to give their Top 3 Mr. Basketball Candidates and then tell who they thought would win. Just a fun prediction after the KABC Region POY were announced. It's gotten a bit out of hand, and some people are choosing to be negative and derogatory toward others. Be positive about who you think deserves to win and don't say negative things about other players. TOP 3 Faulkner - Williams - Goodin 2016 KY Mr. Basketball- Carson Williams
  6. I agree... The other players mentioned are terrific basketball players, and I'm sure great young men as well, and will have great college careers. But CW is the best overall HS player. If he doesn't win it this year I'm not sure what it takes to win.
  7. My Top 3 are: Faulkner Williams Gooden My pick for Mr. Basketball is Carson Williams. IMO he is the most valuable and complete HS player in KY. He has carried them to a 27-3 record with a beefed up schedule for a Class "A" team with wins over South Laurel, Henry Clay, Taylor County, North Laurel, South Oldham, and Oldham County. On a side note, in all the games I've seen him play no one has played with more effort. I never saw him take plays off or play lazy defense. He is a work horse who plays the game the right way. It's never about him, he plays for his team first. That's who I want to represent KY as our Mr. Basketball.
  8. Now that all the KABC region players of the year have been announced who are your Top 3 Candidates and who do you think wins Kentucky Mr. Basketball?
  9. All of this can sometimes be a mess... Does anyone know when the actual Mr. Basketball voting window is?
  10. He is the only KY kid in this online dunk contest. If he wins he gets to go to Houston, TX during the NCAA Final 4 and compete is some national HS dunk contest. It would be cool to see him there to rep KY!!!
  11. Anyone heard who the finalists are for Mr. Basketball?
  12. No, not at all. I completely understand your point, but unfortunately I didn't get to see Larry Bird play in HS. I am a huge Carson Williams fan, so if you say they are comparable at the HS level I'll have to take your word for it. I just think it's tough for people b/c the comparison is with one of the all-time NBA greats. Most people only know Bird late in his college years and in the league, not what kind of player he was like in HS. I'm not hating about this thread b/c like I said I believe Williams should be the 2016 Kentucky Mr. Basketball. I just hate some of the negativity by others.
  13. I don't think it's fair to compare HS kids to other college players let alone NBA players. Carson is an amazing HS player, and if he continues to progress will be an outstanding college player. NKU got a steal with this kid. Just let Carson be Carson. A kid who I think is this years Mr. Basketball and a future KY HS Hall of Famer. We should all enjoy watching these kids and stop comparing.
  14. Owen's opponents winning% is lower than Taylor's, which totally accurate. Part of that is bc Owen's district & conference is way down and they have to play those teams. You would think that a win over the pre-season #1 team in the state would help your case, but they're 13-8. Numbers can be deceiving.
