NewCath just could not shake the Wildcats in this one. NewCath led by 9 several times, but Newport found ways to comeback.

With 6:18 in the 4th Newport was able to knot things up at 58-58, and then grab their 1st lead of the game on the next play off a Snapp steal and bucket.......they would extend that lead to 4, 62-58, on a Snapp 15 footer. However, the Breds would eventually go back up 3 with 2 and change, but two consecutive empty trips and conversions by Newport and were tied up.

With :58.8 the Wildcats have the ball, however, 23 seconds later a tie up ball situation gives it back to NewCath and Breds hold for the final shot. B. Anderson's triple is off the mark and Austin Neff's stickback attempt is no good.

In Overtime it was all NewCath.......

Thought for sure NewCath would win this easily....

NCC press was not effective at all other than maybe tiring Newport out in OT. Newport D played well sort of sagging on Weyer and then at least challenging the 3 point shooters.

All the credit to Newport for coming from 10 down to take a 4 point lead. NCC looked beat but righted the ship to get back in the game and then got a little sloppy in the final 1:30 of regulation.

In OT Breds came alive and Newport kind of was running on empty at that point.

If Newport can shoot it like tonight they may make some noise in the 9th region tourney.

NCC has to get some breaks and play 3 solid games in a row. Not impossible but certainly not very easy to do.

Very impressed with this Newport team tonight.......very disciplined basketball tonight. Makes me wonder had the "3 amigos" been dealt with earlier in the season how much better would this team be?

Also, had those 3 got on board with the rest of the team from the get go.....how good could they be?

Nonetheless, big tip of the cap to Coach Snapp and his team for one hell of an effort tonight.

Hopefully the Cats can avoid CovCath in the opening round.

If I were Newport I would hope for CovCath in the first round. Need to get them while you are fresh since you are only playing 5-6 players.

CovCath and NewCath are hoping they dont get Cooper in the 1st round since they were upset by Conner tonight
