Lafayette 55 Lexington Catholic 48 (43rd District)

Featured Replies

Harrison Lane the difference in this one. Stroked it from 3 all night. Catholic never could recover from big 1st quarter by Lafayette.

Donovan Morris 1/10 with 5 turnovers. Needed more from him for Catholic to win.

Also a couple bad plays at bad times. Zan Payne gets a charge on a 3 on 1 break. Max Sparkman travels after a beautiful pass from Luke Johnson. Not to mention the Lafayette defense stifling Johnson most of the game.

Final thought: Mendenhall outcoached Salsman badly. They switched their defense a lot including junk D like a diamond and 1. Salsman had no answer.

Congrats to Lafayette on advancing.

Congrats to Lafayette. I have a lot of love for sophomore Eric Powell so I am happy to see Lafayette get this win.

Congrats to Lafayatte. What a district.. Great to hear Lane played well, great kid!

Great kid promising future

I thought i read on kentucky.com that this district had 4 teams in the final top 25 poll?

The sportscast on WLEX 18 last night on tv then this morning on the local sports radio report called this an "upset". Really? Anyone else consider this an upset?

I don't. Lafayette is the only team that beat Mercer County this year and they have spent more time ranked in the BGP Rankings than LexCath has. I do think LexCath was the higher seed so that may be what LEX 18 may have been going by.

The Cantrall Rankings have Dunbar, Lex Cath, Lafayette, and LCA all ranked in the top 25 in their final poll.

I didn't either. They also stated that it's only the 2nd time in 30 years that Lexcath had not advanced to the regional tournament. That's a pretty good number.
