Still plenty of household names left to win titles this year; let's not forget that. 1A will likely be Beechwood. Nothing against Pikeville, but I think many of us would love to see Raceland break through and at least get there. Campbellsville knocking off the Beechies would be something to see also. 2A all four have either won it all once, multiple times or at least been to multiple finals despite not winning it(Glasgow) 3A all four have state titles and/or appearances to their name. 4A see 3A. 5A The west teams have all won titles while a newcomer in appearance if nothing else will be new, but that's kind of been 5A east deal. They are the wide open one if ever such a thing (Cooper, Pulaski County and now either Madison Southern or Harlan County have represented the East the last several years) 6A I don't know of anybody outside of Trinity, St. X and Scott County fans that wouldn't like to see Central Hardin get there and win it all, but. I'm not trying to be a downer, but lets not get carried away with wishful thinking here. The rich have been, are and will continue to be just that for the most part in this state for the vast majority of title games as they have in the past, likely now and for years to come. In terms of dominating runs, though? If Beechwood stays 1A for years to come then it's them.

And Boyle has a kicking game. Like E-town; after a score they are making people start on their own 20 yard line. This is the best game of the week IMO.

E-town’s kicking game on both ends is the X factor. You mention LaRue; that’s what got them beat vs Caldwell. Who would have ever thought that LaRue County would have been the only ones in that region that “challenged” E-town.

I don’t know if anybody that doesn’t want classes in other sports. The Sweet 16 is losing its pop, and it’s not hard to see that the “small” schools that make it there are from regions with no big schools and/or metropolitan type areas to battle. Baseball needs classes. So does soccer. Everything does

I like it. Reward for being 1 or 2 seed? You get to play in the big dance for a shot at all the marbles. You don't and finish 3rd or 4th? No problem. Go play in the NIT which isn't bad ball to watch in an of itself.

So kind of like the current Bowl set up for FBS schools without as many "bowls". A select few actually get to play for the real thing or things in our case, and the rest get to play for a bowl championship, but not the mac daddy. I can dig it. In the mid atlantic and some northeastern states they still go by this kind of set up where Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday games are still a tradition for all. For some that game is a state semifinal; for other's its just a pairing to keep the turkey day tradition going & it's usually with a team within their class and relatively close proximity to one another.

Isn’t this gown Texas does things? Two state champs per class. Class 1A-A, Class 1A-AA so on and so forth. Doesn’t need to happen here, though. I’m for the season being shortened, but it needs to be backed up a week at the start; not at the end. Finals weekend has been the first weekend of December for almost 30 years. Moving state finals to Thanksgiving weekend would absolutely kill the crowds for the casual fan looking to come up for the weekend. I don’t think that would happen anyway because of scheduling issues with our host universities.

I’ve seen nothing, but great games the handful of times I’ve seen 7 man crews. It has actually been less flags.

I loved the part about how many programs know when their next season will finish well before it even begins, and they know it the week after their current season just ended. It's painful to say it, but it's so true.

If you don’t trade then others will. Personally I find it kind of comical that football coaches don’t just trade all of their games up to meeting up in their respective game. They get them regardless from others if you don’t.

This will just be the first of many for this fine young man. His father Brian Miller was a state track champ in the 100 and also maybe the 200 during his prep days in the mid - late 90’s for Lincoln County as well as being a very solid QB/DB for the Patriots.

The other side of having a week 10 bye from people that do is they often times look back and wish they had an open week somewhere during their district slate. It's a program to program thing. I can see where Belfry/Johnson Central playing week 10 is a great for all....neither of them are ever remotely challenged in the first couple rounds (if not even deeper). Caldwell County/Mayfield? Same way for the most part with them. They both use round 1 and sometimes 2 as times to rest their guys, so I get them having a slug fest to end the regular season. Central/PRP? Same except sometimes for PRP depending on what region they are paired up with. Do what you feel is best for your program year in year out and forget the rest.

It might be one of the worst changes the KHSAA has made to high school football. If I’m a program that has no legitimate shot to make any kind of a playoff run then I’m doing all I can to win this game more than likely. If I’m a team that’s somewhat of a dark horse with a chance to possibly make it to a Region final or beyond then I’m not caring one bit about this Friday night. Take Garrard County for example- here they are a 4 seed in the best 3A district in the state with a very legit shot at beating 1 seed Fleming County, yet they have to go square off with Rockcastle County? Forget bragging rights for that game. What’s going to matter more- you throwing blows with Rock at the risk of being more beaten up than you might already be after district play or taking an L against them (and, maybe a convincing one) at the expense of playing a lot of your JV kids so that you can take the main show on the road and be the 4 seed that knocks off a 1 and who knows what else to follow? I think all know the answer to that question. Do the things you’ve been working on all season, but haven’t shown much if any of; sit your studs or at least play your back ups quite a bit. This week is no different than a scrimmage IMO. As a matter of fact; that’s exactly what it is: a scrimmage before the post season. The absolutely most meaningless week of the season. Offensively if you aren’t a team that scripts stuff, then script stuff this week come hell or high water. If you have fronts, stunts & coverages on D you haven’t worked much in games, but wonder how they’d look then let them eat. Get out healthy; to heck with the result. This week is no different than week 17 of the NFL IMO (for teams that already know their playoff seeding that is).

Then you give the 3A team with the best player in that class and one of the best in the entire state the ball with a short field & plenty of time; they score and we are sitting here saying "Should have kicked it deep and away from Robinson." Garrard did what they should have done; they kicked away from him, but players are players. When a kid runs back to take the ball from another, as they say......for the lack of a better word- things happen.

District and region are brutal.

Three county schools who historically weren't very good at all outside of some years here or there came together to make one mega school in Kentucky's toughest class. It is a good job, but it's not a great job. If they didn't have to go through Louisville then it would be one thing, but they do and more years than not it's in the first couple of rounds. They think higher of themselves than others do.
