  1. Taking a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing most programs couldn't take the hits of losing their starting QB and RB, especially one the caliber of Young, and not stumble; let alone a 1A program. There is still much to accomplish for Campbellsville this year on what's already been a great year for them.
  2. I agree. To take it a step further, Hopkinsville, Mayfield, Tilghman, Owensboro, Murray, etc., should all play each other every year like the old WKC days (along with others like Bowling Green). Some are in the same district, some in the same region, but I wish all of those schools would make it a point to get each other on the schedules every year.
  3. I highly doubt you find anybody in their right mind that would disagree with you, but it unfortunately is what it is.
  4. Was Henderson going out of the spread and pounding it with a lot of Inside & Outside Zone or did they go back to some of their SBV stuff ? Good to see them take the #2 seed.
  5. Were the two transfers from Trinity ruled eligible? I think I asked this the other day, but how many does that make now for Waggener, five or so? Congratulations to the Wildcats.
  6. Likely 3 way tie for 2nd shaping up in this district.
  7. How many new transfers will that make for Waggener for this year? 5? Good for them. Either you have play makers or you don't.
  8. Many ref crews will hold their hand up when it gets to 5 seconds, the back judge that is. I agree, though. All should have them.
  9. Playing sophomores or not on Varsity and JV is the ultimate Catch 22. On one hand, you are sending them out for slaughter on Friday nights. On the other you want those kids to have some success playing against same aged kids, but at the expense of "What if they get hurt?". It's definitely easier to sit back on here and wait to say, "Told ya so!", that's for sure. Tough spot.
  10. North Bullitt will handle this one easily.
  11. I think they do more at the youth league and middle school levels. I know a good amount of high schools who use bags the vast majority of the time, even individual skill specific drills. The January-July off season grind I think deters a lot of the kids. Then July, August, September heat, even into October and here it is 80+ out there wearing all the gear. Lift. Run. Lift. Run. Practice. Practice. Practice. Football is just flat out harder and I think that's has to do with the drop more than anything.
  12. Any threads about this tragedy? Maybe on the national nightly news? Honest questions. Officials: Teen soccer player who died had collapsed during cross country meet last year | USA Today High School Sports | USA Today High School Sports
  13. 7 year study: Football & women's soccer players see same percentage change in brain activity
  14. I agree. I should have directed that towards the umbrella of practice (actual practice, off season lifting, running, etc). 9-10 months of 3-5 day a week grunt work for only 10 guaranteed (and, even less for JV/Freshmen) two hour slots a year.
  15. .....and, not all football folks took it the wrong way. Put me in the camp of both can co-exist. Matter of fact, put me in the camp that wishes both could be played in different seasons b/c of the cross-over I think you would see. They compliment each other very well. Maybe I'm wrong here, but isn't soccer played in the spring down south? Matter of fact, I think that Kentucky is the only state south of the Ohio that plays soccer in the fall.
  16. Completely agree. More specifically, the type of commitment level. That whole practice more (a lot more) and play less (a lot less) than some of these other sports, in this case it's soccer is having an effect.
  17. I posted this in the other thread & firmly believe these have a good deal to do with a shift at the high school level. It hits (or so I think) in the spectrum of what @NKYknowitall touched on. -Everybody gets to kick the ball (much like basketball where everybody gets to touch and shoot it, and baseball everybody gets to bat). -Uniform is shorts, t-shirt (when it's 90 in the shade as it is for most all of July, August and September, this sounds much more appealing) -Play more games, practice less (easier, more fun. Who likes to practice a lot? Football practices more and plays less than soccer, basketball and baseball ever thinks about in this day and age. It's play, play, play in baseball, soccer and basketball) -Off Season programs, grunt work, the "Grind" aren't what they are in football (easier). Their off-season programs are indoor soccer with more games and travel soccer in the spring-summer, more games and even less practice than in season. They aren't having organized lifting/running from January-July three to four days a week (or more), nor practicing for a month in that off season (football spring practice) & still not playing a game. **I fully understand there are those who put in their dues during off season strength & agility, but I think you know what I mean big picture** -Most think it's safer when as it's been pointed out is just hear say. It won't take over football, but I get why the numbers are going up & when you look at it, even compare the two, it looks a lot more fun to a good amount of kids. I get it.

  19. Over. I've read where it's been an average of that the last few years as is (almost 40), with last year taking the cake in over 50. I don't see it slowing down.
  20. Absolutely they are. I touched on BG, but gave the short versions on the others. Cut and dry, they just simply don't have the team speed of the teams they have beaten by. If I have more playmakers than you, if I have a couple more guys that can take it to the house while everything else is a draw (or close) then I'm going to win & vice versa I feel Monroe is a very solid program and very well coached. I've always thought that. Monroe is three duds away from being 7-0 & all being right in the world.
  21. Bowling Green- Better in all phases, as they are 99% of the programs in the state. So much more speed. Franklin Simpson- Athletically, IMO there is no comparison between Monroe and them. North Hardin- See Franklin-Simpson One common denominator in all three of those teams is that they all have more team speed than Monroe. Keep in mind I say all of this while pulling for Monroe to do well.
  22. Sadly, I completely agree. There are about 20-25 perennial, good programs in our state. Yearly, there is about 40-50. Outside of those, you just better hope you have a more people on your schedule that are worse than you and that's all there is to it. There are so many slow, very unathletic teams out there.
  23. Smart move and good to hear. That young man is electric.
  24. Five of the Top 10 in 4A in the same region. Who is the most healthy at the time of play definitely could be the deterring factor.
