Two that were at the very bottom of the barrel in 2A at that when they merged and had been for some time. This job has some unbelievable facilities, but that's it.

So of the three feeder schools they are more or less only getting kids from two of them? That's attractive.

My earlier post got me thinking about something, and I guess it's "Mustang's" related, but nobody expected Muhlenberg County to be a major player in 6A even though they have done quite well all things considered to be honest, so why do people expect McCracken County to be much more? Their stadium's and surfaces are one in the same, and Muhlenberg's might be bigger. Muhlenberg North and Muhlenberg South merged to become one in 2009 and neither of the prior schools had any kind of tradition. Lone Oak, Reidland and Heath merged to become one in 2013 with Lone Oak being the only one that had any kind of success in recent years leading up to it. I went back and looked at schedules of all, and the bulk of Reidland's wins came against either Fulton County, Fulton City, Heath, Webster County or Muhlenberg North. Most of Muhlenberg South's wins since 1998 came against like competition and they more or less split between Reidland and Heath over the years. The same could be said for Heath also. Go back and look and Fulton City, Fulton County, Reidland, Muhlenberg North, Muhlenberg South, Lone Oak and Webster County made up for almost all of their wins. So why is it that McCracken was all of the sudden tabbed with the expectation of them becoming a 6A major player?

But, let's not forget here that despite those two things that this is still a program playing in by far our toughest classification. This is a program that was made by taking three schools where one had just had recent success before the merger and two other programs that were more or less dead. Not only were those bottom two struggling, but they were doing so in 2A.

Without looking at the roster's of all football, basketball and baseball, but having a pretty good guess based off past year's I bet they have less than five kids who play more than one of those. You could throw soccer into the mix and I'd be shocked if more than a couple of them play basketball or baseball.

-6A -They've only won 11 games the last 6 years with three different coaches, which obviously comes out to be -Didn't this last guy have years of college experience, most recently at Georgia State? Unless they are absolutely willing to bend over backwards for somebody, then expect to hire a first time head coach or somebody with a little experience as a head man. There is nothing wrong with either of those, but Mr. Big Name isn't walking through the doors.

If he has that much of an effect on any game, he must be the baddest LB on the planet that nobody knows about then.

They've played a killer schedule. Are there really many, if any 4A programs in the Top 10 that would have faired much different with that schedule? I'm anxious to see how this team does.

Depends on the positions those guys play & if they two platoon most of their starters or not. Ten guys that very seldom come off the field is a huge hit to many programs.

I was about to say the same thing. Longtime reader, but not so much on the posting side. I've seen numerous threads over the years like this get shut down at first mention, yet this one gets to ride? Probably a poor attempt (or not) on my part to defend BW, but the best I knew how.

Absolutely not, but they don't get out if the wave is still going to be riding high, either. I'm not blaming the guy. I get it. Coaches move on; either in retirement-resignation, or onto other jobs when the picking isn't going to be as ripe. It's a hard pill to swallow, because we are then somehow placing blame on kids and their abilities instead of accountability on the adults. It's not PC, but its fact.

Could be, but unless they are completely incompetent; I don't know how they can't figure it out. Also, I don't think Dale would have hired them nor kept them on staff to begin with. But, I still say a talent drop off. Yes, even at Highlands compared to those on their schedule right now.

Well sure it does. You don't see coaches up and resign, or even move on for that matter; unless they know things aren't going to be like what they've been.

Dale Mueller knew what he was doing getting out. He knew things weren't going to be what they had been. I find it really hard to believe that the man who was behind those defenses (Weinrich) when Highlands was going on there run is really that bad of a head coach.

E-town wins big. Harrison County and East Jessamine should be the best one of the bunch. West Jessamine has a boat load of kids returning, and Harrison County made a vast improvement last year.

They don't have a direct feeder school at the middle school level. Kids that attend both My Old Kentucky Home Middle School and Bloomfield Middle School go to both Nelson County and Thomas Nelson. Two of the main areas that Thomas Nelson draws kids from are the small, rural communities of New Haven, Culvertown, Howardstown and Boston. I don't mean any disrespect, but they just haven't historically been areas known for a lot of talent.

There are plenty of programs out there who have young men of high character who lack in the wins department. The same can be said for hard work, too. There are plenty of teams who work extremely hard, that suck something awful.

I don't know who or how many have applied. I don't know who will even get interviews. But, if I'm interviewing for the job, I'd look dead in the face of the principal, along with other members and ask "How are you going to deal with the real possibility of not winning a game the next two years?" If their tone and answer is anything less than a resounding positive, I'd walk the hell out right then and there. Some might read this and roll their eyes laughing, but if you don't think that is a real possibility then you're kidding yourselves. Their schedule next year is beyond brutal and, not to mention all that they graduated + their extreme lack of numbers. I get coaches out there who so badly want to run their own show, but it's time more and more start turning the tables during this process. Own the interview. You make it their interview as much as it is yours.

Great hire without question. I'll forever remember watching him lead Shelby Valley to the title. That was a Sweet 16 for the ages. It's hard to believe how fast time flies by.

Both basketball jobs open, football job open and also looking for their 2nd AD in as many years. I'd approach with extreme caution.
