The hardest part about this job is finding somebody who would want to live there.

Belfry vs who comes out of a somewhat wide open west in terms of PT, Caldwell, Elizabethtown, Central, Boyle and LexCath. Unless Belfry is decimated by injuries, go ahead and give them the trophy right now.

I like having a Top 6 discussion. Ten is too many for our classes, because almost half of them will be irrelevant when it comes to actual legit shots at the title or even getting there. Four I don't think is enough. The only exception might be 4A in 2017-2018 after South Warren goes to 5A. It will be more wide open than any class we have had in a while I think. The rest of these classes we could talk at Top 6 just to encompass all of the teams who really could get to the finals, maybe even narrow it down to a Top 4 at who actually have a shot to win it all.

Outside of Belfry and LexCath, I'm not really sure there is all that much of a difference in their overall schedules.

This job sounds really good because it's Tilghman, but I'm not so sure it is. Once upon a time it was considered the best job in western Kentucky, and now I don't know if it's even best job in the county. In your opinions where would Tilghman rank right now with Mayfield, Murray, Owensboro, O'Cath, McCracken, Christian, Hoptown, Caldwell, Madisonville and Graves?

It absolutely can be all of that. I think what @jessepinkman is eluding to is along the lines of what I said. Fans were getting bored with 9-10 wins, 2nd round and region final appearances the last couple years of Clevenger because of the offense he was running and it not being flashy enough (I guess). Enter Lewis operating out of the spread, a couple of down years and people were still grumbling.

One would hope. But, I clearly remember the crowds not being very good Clevenger's last couple years. Here they were winning 9-10 games a clip his last few years and people stopped showing up because they were bored with watching the Split Back Veer. They then hire Lewis, go spread, have a couple rough years and the crowd still wasn't much.

I hope that's when it's made. Thinking back last time, though I don't think things were expected to be as drawn out as they ended up becoming. By the time this hire is made, it will be awful close to the same time frame when Lewis' was hired and this might be longer. They had several on their initial wish list turn it down did they not? Doing a google search I found the article in The Gleaner from Feb. 12, 2013 of it being official that Clevenger took the Danville job and then an article from April 2nd, 2013 that Lewis had taken it. I'm not faulting the process one bit, but things happen. I have no doubt whatsoever that many on the application list are qualified for the job.

The longer this thing drags out, the better the chances for the dark horses. It's now been open almost 2 months now. Lewis resigned what, on January 26th? Here it is March 16th and the "ten" haven't even been contacted yet. It might not become public knowledge, but you see and hear it every year as it gets closer to summer. Current and successful head coaches start second guessing themselves. They've just started or finished spring ball with their current team, houses have to get put up and hopefully sell, etc. A lot of factors that most don't think about or refuse to see start coming into play.

That has to suck something awful. I know staffs that designates each coach to "work" a home Little League Saturday; kind of like the on site "administrator" for the day while a local high school ref, along with a few of the players ref the games. Every coach, every Saturday? Then staff meetings on Sunday? More power to them...I think? That sounds like utter hell on earth.

It's like that hot blonde you see at the bar all by herself. You wonder why she is there alone, hear about her issues, but you are still blinded by the outer beauty and think you can bring something to save her that others have failed at. A couple dates later and you see why she's riding solo, despite looking so dang fine on the outside.

I think they will be in rebuild mode as well. The program was doing great when Clevenger left for Danville & Henderson had success in Lewis' first year. They graduated 21 seniors this year off a team that accounted for 8 seniors on both offense and defense that struggled to a 4-7 finish (16 of 22 starters and others that got quality minutes). By my calculations, they return: Total Rushing: 124 yds. Total Passing: 420 yds. Total Receiving: 15 yds. Total TD's: 5 Those returning numbers, or lack of, would scare people away from jobs in the smaller classes, let a lone 6A. Their starting QB, Freshman Skip Patterson was the owner of three of those TD's and 485 of those 559 yards the Colonels return. 6A just isn't that desirable of a place to be & history backs that reasoning up; parody there isn't. One of the perks I think Henderson has is the fact that it's in 6A Region 1, but with it looking like 6A is about to go back to the whole playoff-region shuffling deal; that positive is about to be thrown out the window.

Usual suspects in all. 1A East, 3A West, 4A East and 6A East having the most parody in determining who comes out of those. They thankfully provide a little excitement. 1A- Beechwood and Russellville will be in the West Semis vs Pikeville or Hazard. 2A- Mayfield, Murray, O'Cath, DeSales, CAL Danville, NewCath and good luck to everybody else. Actually, good luck to everybody else not Mayfield. 3A- Belfry vs it doesn't matter. 4A- South Warren, John Hardin or Franklin-Simpson vs ?? I'm going with Wayne County. 5A- BG vs Highlands. 6A- T, X, Male vs ? Winners? 1A- Beechwood 2A- Mayfield 3A-Belfry 4A- South Warren 5A- BG 6A- Trinity Let's play 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 while we are at it. Lol

In terms of playing in one heck of a facility, close to Lexington, in a community that seems to care about overall athletics, the home of the oldest-most tradition rich bowl game in the state and a decent town of its own? Yes. In terms of graduating what is seemingly everybody from last years team and being paired up with Highlands and Covington Catholic in their region? No. Dan Gooch was there for 11 seasons, a coach who won at Owensboro Apollo more-so if not more than anybody they have ever had, and was only able to have 5 winning seasons at Montgomery. That says something IMO. They do return Alex Harvey who is a very powerful back that went over 1,000 yards last year.

Congrats to Coach Petett on his great career and best of luck to he and his family future. Monroe is a good job I think, but they play a heck of a schedule and are in a very tough region. You want expectations, but they also have to be realistic ones at that.

I'd say this is a very good hire. He proved himself at Butler. How many proven and established head coaches do you think were going to look at this job saying, "Hmm. Male, St. X, Trinity- yeah, I'd like to get involved with that."

I said a running clock for Belfry last night, and it almost happened. I'm calling it again for this game. Belfry by a bunch. They are just that that good.

Great year for Corbin and glad to see them get back to the state semis, but this Belfry team is just on another level. Running clock in favor of the Pirates wouldn't shock me.

To an extent. Whatever your scheme, you better have guys that can get off the ball and move. Those guys at Johnson Central and Belfry are a little more fleet of foot than most think on the surface.

Calpreps is usually all over it for the most part. I would love to see Russellville pull this out and see a storied program like themselves make a return trip to the finals for the first time in over 20 years, but I just don't see it. Count me in with what Calpreps says, and it might not even be that close. The Beechies could win this by four or more TD's and it would not surprise me at all.

It would be great to see this remotely respectable, but I'd not be shocked to see a running clock by the end of the 1st. Central Hardin just won their first region title in the programs history, but them, nor 99% of the programs in KY can make it a game with these guys at the present time.

It won't be finalized until the Saturday after Thanksgiving when WKU plays Marshall. If WKU wins, they will host the C-USA Championship the following Saturday & the KHSAA has a different schedule for the weekend if that happens. I'm not sure of the exacts; there is a thread on here about it, but if that is the case: -Class A on Thursday -No Games Friday - Two games Saturday evening after the C-USA game - Three on Sunday

I personally don't think Little League tackle football is all that important in the first place.

I'd like to think that our society could keep it in perspective (realizing there are risks in everything we do throughout our lives), but that will be way too much to ask. They need to make a movie called: -Diabetes -Heart Diesease -Fast Food -Car Wreck -Four Wheeler -Junk Food -Alchohol - and, slew of others. But, millions of people across our country aren't sitting at home watching hours of those types of documentaries on TV. I'm personally looking forward to the movie just as I am glad to see rules that have been implemented to make our game safer and better, but like others have said, I know exactly the impact this movie will have (or that it wants to have). I hope I'm wrong.

I've heard some wrongful grumblings about Coach Fowler as well from those who are close to the program. So, let me get this straight, because I believe the outside pressures are 100% true with him resigning, but they had somebody in him who (correct me if I'm wrong) wasn't from Owen County, yet wanted to be there? I hate it for the kids, but I hope whoever the gut less so called "leaders" of the school system get exactly what they deserve. Owenton-Football Mecca of KY, said no one ever.
