Dupont Manual Has a New Football Coach

SCOTT CARMONY NAMED NEXT CRIMSON FOOTBALL COACH

It is with great pride and excitement that we introduce Scott Carmony as the 35th coach in Manual's illustrious 123 year football history. Coach Carmony comes to us from Butler High School, not only as a football coach, but also an outstanding educator. He has 22 years of teaching experience in Kentucky as a certified Social Studies teacher and has also earned his Kentucky Administrative Certificate.

Coach Carmony has 11 years of head coaching experience in Jefferson County with the reputation in our community as a builder and sustainer of championship level football programs. He lead his 2011 Butler team to a state semifinal appearance. He also has been named District Coach of the Year three times (2001, 2008, 2009) by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association and was a finalist for Associated Press Kentucky High School Coach of the Year (2011). He is no stranger to Manual High School, serving as an assistant football coach during the 1997-99 seasons.

Coach Carmony has embraced Manual and our tradition of excellence in all areas, committed to the all around development of our students, both in the classroom and on the field. We are extremely excited about the future of Manual Football under his leadership.

Go Crimsons!

Is this good hire for Manual? Thoughts from the Manual faithful...

Not a bad hire, Carmony is a great guy from what I know of him. There was not a great pool of coaches to interview from what I have been told.

No surprise with this hire. If I'm not mistaken this is a Principal Mayes assistant from his days when he was head coach at Manual. Figured it would be a good ole boy. He's good enough to finish 3rd in their district just like the other coaches unless the principal can manipulate the entrance requirements to get some more athletes in the school.

And just to show you how talk goes, I was told by an administrator that they had over 50 applicants and had a very hard time picking among the 5 that got interviews.

Probably not a bad hire, but typical JCPS. Instead of taking the time to reach out and explore what candidates are truly interested, hire a buddy of principal and move on.

I have been told Great leader and Manager of his staff/program. Not a big X and O type, let's his coaches coach. Hope the administration will work with the new coach and let more football players in for 2016 or George "Papa Bear" Halas would not be able to win against the better 6A schools. My 2 cents.

I'd say this is a very good hire. He proved himself at Butler.

How many proven and established head coaches do you think were going to look at this job saying, "Hmm. Male, St. X, Trinity- yeah, I'd like to get involved with that."

Scott is a great guy and the kind of Coach that will put academic success above all. That is exactly what the Manual administrators want and need. He will win his share of games and do a great job of turning boys into men.

Scott was a solid player at J-Town back in the 80's and an even better assistant under Steve Bocko. In my opinion, Bocko accomplished so much during his day and he is one of the better coaches in Jefferson County in recent memory (not named Glaser, Lamphley or Redman) - An even better educator! Scott eventually followed Bocko to Butler where he was principal. Great people - care about kids - always going to see development in the kids on and off the field.

Homerun for Manual in my opinion. Sure, it will always be an uphill climb with T, X and H - but, as long as Scott can win 6, 7 or 8 each year just like Dr Lucas, the Crimsons will be in great shape. I agree with the majority - get more athletes in the school because Carmony will do great things with them on the field and in the classroom (same can be said about Dr Lucas).

Congrats Manual and Coach Carmony.

Doesn't he teach the same thing as Dr.Lucas?
