Monroe County 23 Metcalfe County 0

Featured Replies

Final.

The game was ugly fast. Five fumbles between both schools in first quarter. It seems one would Flop the ball then the other would flop it back. The rain did not let up until late in the fourth. I really like Metcalfes grit, they seem to want to play ball just fall short on the numbers they need to be successful! #4 for the Hornets took a beating tonight but got up every time and kept grinding. Two thumbs up for this kids grit and heart! Monroe has offensive line problems and questionable play calling a lot. I guess as a coordinator you are a God or Goat....

To be a serious contender they will have to work out a ton of issues on the OL. AND, get some defensive tackles and linebackers that will play every play! Tre Whitlock excluded. This kid is a beast. We have defensive linemen standing up at the snap like they are linebackers....a good line will have their way with some of these kids that think they are super stars. All of them have the talent and size to be, but their attitudes and arrogance hurt them and this team greatly.

It really seems to me they are playing to the politics of Monroe County and not the most talented players they have to choose from.

I will have to say I was somewhat surprised by the OL of Monroe. Over the years coaching against them, one thing was certain was they were gonna be physical. I felt that may have been the one area Metcalfe controlled the game. Now the Hornets could not muster any offense to make this game in jeopardy but that has been the case most of the season. Monroe has some solid players and weather may have been a major factor but the Falcons have huge areas of improvement to be considered a threat in a late season run...however their linebacker Trey Mink #4, may be the best one I've seen thus far this year.

The offensive line is very questionable. Monroe may have lost #67 Drew Hammer to a torn shoulder. If the rest of the line had this young mans drive and heart this team would be state champions this year. They have the size and having a former UK lineman as a coach should help...I am not sure what is going on. It stumps the entire community when all the weapons are their but the results are less than satisfactory. Is it the heart? Is it coaching? Is expectations too high? Do the kids just not want it as bad as the rest of us do? This remains to be seen...

Bowling Green- Better in all phases, as they are 99% of the programs in the state. So much more speed.

Franklin Simpson- Athletically, IMO there is no comparison between Monroe and them.

North Hardin- See Franklin-Simpson

One common denominator in all three of those teams is that they all have more team speed than Monroe. Keep in mind I say all of this while pulling for Monroe to do well.

Auburn,

While I feel you are exactly correct in your assessment, I feel it would be slighting Monroe not to mention that BG is #1 in 5A; Franklin-Simpson is a solid 4A school; and North Hardin is an offensively gifted 6A school. I know you know Monroe is 2A and I applaud their moxie in scheduling these type teams, especially after last years team was decimated by injuries. Have they taken some lumps along the way? Yes, but if I'm a 2A squad who's only played cupcakes, I don't want to play Monroe in the playoffs. :thumb:

Absolutely they are. I touched on BG, but gave the short versions on the others. Cut and dry, they just simply don't have the team speed of the teams they have beaten by.

If I have more playmakers than you, if I have a couple more guys that can take it to the house while everything else is a draw (or close) then I'm going to win & vice versa

I feel Monroe is a very solid program and very well coached. I've always thought that.

Monroe is three duds away from being 7-0 & all being right in the world.

They'd be really good dudes! :lol2:
