Waggener 68 Thomas Nelson 14

Featured Replies

Waggener had 3 different quarterbacks throw touchdowns tonight. Jairus Brents scored on a 70 yard pick 6, 75 yard punt return, 2 receiving touchdowns, and threw a touchdown pass as well. Waggener is going to be a tough out for anyone, they are not the same ole Waggener!

Likely 3 way tie for 2nd shaping up in this district.

Incorrect it was 68-14.

Just going by what it has on Riherd's/KHSAA Scoreboard and what I heard on radio last night.

Were the two transfers from Trinity ruled eligible? I think I asked this the other day, but how many does that make now for Waggener, five or so?

Congratulations to the Wildcats.

Both were ruled eligible. Coach Johnson has said they have over 10, not sure of the total. However, I know of the ones he has gotten in are program changers.

You have to feel for the kids that used to fill those spots.

They finished the year last year with 21 kids and lost 7 or 8 probably to graduation, so he basically has crafted a whole new team. Not too many positions were lost. They scored 52 total points last year according to khsaa, so help was needed.

So it's OK for the kids that have been playing all season to just be sat to the side?

So this program has 10 new transfers? Seems as though that should send some red flags.

It has now been amended on Riherd's/KHSAA. My apologies, but I was working with the info I had at the time.

This year's roster lists 51 players -- including 9 freshmen.

Entering the Thomas Nelson game, 30 players had played between 5-7 games, 12 players had played between 1-4 games. Apparently 9 players had yet to see varsity action (which is GOOD for them in case they want to transfer next year).

With the exception of Brents (a star), the other top rushing options (Bryant, Burrus, Grady) PLAYED last year and ARE PLAYING this year.

Tanner McCoy, the main quarterback, saw action last year as a freshman.

Of the 8 receivers who had a reception entering Thomas Nelson, 6-of-8 (75 percent) were on last year's team. One of the two that wasn't, of course, is Brents.

Of the 8 players who had scored a point, 6 were on last year's team.

Three of the four players who have interceptions played last year. The other, of course, is Brents.

More than 20 guys who have multiple tackles played last year.

I'm NOT from Waggener at all. However, the numbers say many players who played last year ... are having an impact THIS year.

I'm not how many, IF ANY, kids who were "impact" players last year are riding the pine this year.

Looks like it will be a three way tie between Waggener, Henry County, and Bardstown for second. I can't see any situation where Henry doesn't win the tiebreaker, so Waggener will go to either Boyle or Lexington Catholic in the first round of the playoffs.
