Does this not happen on every sports team in America, better performing players take over starting positions? I am quite sure these young men are enjoying not playing on one of the worst football teams in the state anymore.

It doesn't happen where player come in in the middle of the season and take spots from other players. Maybe in the NFL but not is high school.

 

Those 50 guys that aren't playing at X are most likely watching guys that have been there the entire season playing.

Looks like it will be a three way tie between Waggener, Henry County, and Bardstown for second. I can't see any situation where Henry doesn't win the tiebreaker, so Waggener will go to either Boyle or Lexington Catholic in the first round of the playoffs.

You count the wins of your four best wins at the end of the season. For example:

 

Team A, Team B, and Team C are all tied in the district. (We'll assume they each beat one and lost to another).

 

-Team A beat four teams who combined won 12 games. (You can't count wins against teams in the tiebreaker).

 

-Team B beat four teams who combined won 11 games.

 

-Team C beat four teams who combined won 8 games.

 

Team A wins the tiebreaker, Team B is second, Team C is third.

 

Even if you won more than four games, you can only count your best four.

 

Also, once one team is determined the winner, you still use the points for the other two. It doesn't revert to a head-to-head matchup.

Only 2 have came since the season started, all the others started the school year at Waggener. But you are right I am sure those kids are just wishing they could be 1 and 10 again.

Am friends with a dad whose son has been there for two years.

 

He told me there are 12 transfer. 10 and then the two that just came a few weeks ago from Trinity. He said it's a lot better to win...but did say it's been hard for his kid to playing every down to now not playing. Still they are winning.

The sad part about this is that the majority of parents only care about their kid. I am sure there are some that would be okay with the team losing if that meant their kid was a full time player. You would think winning takes care of all of this, but I assure you that it does not.

I have attempted to refrain from replying or saying anything on the message boards for fear of saying something that may not be politically correct or be taken the wrong way, however this is frustrating to read as a first year coaching trying to change the culture of a school that has been down for so long.

 

We do have several new players at Waggener, however only 2 have joined us since the season began. Yes, some of our players get fewer reps compared to last year, which is to be expected on any team that is competitive, our players have embraced the change of culture and style of play and are having the time of their lives. It is always my goal to attempt to make sure every player that walks out of my program knows that I care for them and gave them the opportunity to accomplish their goals.
