  1. Will N. Bullitt bring a radio team? Does anyone have access to a roster that they could email or fax? This game might be on the menu for webcast.
  2. Flash Field has now become "The Graveyard"... Or so it says on the wall behind the end zone...
  3. I didn't see it listed, but the roster has Robinson listed at 6-3 and 195. I talked with him before the game and stood next to him, and he looks more like 6-2 and 180. I don't think that "size" will be a problem on the next level. One would think that when in college, he could put on at least another 15-20 pounds. He's a very smart young man, and a great role model for any youngster who wants to play football.
  4. VIdeo and audio. Possibly history in the making. http://www.wpsdtv.com announcers might be suspect...
  5. I miss doing the really good games. Of course, the really funny stuff in our broadcast usually started when the game got out of hand, and if I had one issue, it was keeping myself interested in the lopsided affairs. I'm convinced many people tuned in to hear what Paul would say next... Not so sure about Coach Leahy, but who knows, I might wind up doing it again someday soon.
  6. I haven't seen a game all year.... I'll make a point to see this one. Any thoughts from those who know, and perhaps witnessed round 1?
  7. Of course, I left that out of my original post, as for heaven's sake, that should be a given. If you don't do that anyway, you have no business in the business. Mr Net, you are correct, as I was told those things when I first started. You cannot give the score too much... Basics are a necessity on the field, and behind the mike.
  8. This is the first season in 20 years I haven't broadcast football for somebody somewhere, and the first post I've made on this site in a while. I have listened very little this season, but enough to know there are a LOT of rookies behind the mike (and that's putting it nicely), who need to remember a couple of things. You need to continuously update the score, who has the ball, and how much time is left. Everything else is filler. I don't know of many who sit and listen to a game from beginning to end on this level, unless it's deep into the playoffs. I just drove home from dinner with my family, and listened 12 minutes before I got a score on one particular game. The 12 minutes otherwise was filled with dribble that told me nothing about what had happened, only what they hoped would happen. If you don't do anything else right, PLEASE, give these critical pieces of information every four or five downs.
  9. Mayfield and Danville will be on the internet at http://www.96classiccountry.com. We'll have the stadium cast transmission on at 95.9FM for those listening in at Admiral Stadium.
  10. This game is Mayfield's to lose. A strong defense, and potent mix it up offense should combine for a big win. Hold on to the ball and keep pressure on Warf and this could get lopsided. Fumble it around, throw interceptions, and Warf throwing well could turn things around in a hurry. Obviously, Mayfield is the favorite, but there's a reason games are not played on paper.
  11. Since dropping to 1A in the mid 90's, they have won district games 100% of the time. This one won't be any different.
  12. While they both bring a lot of talent to the table, I for one, am glad they're not in the SAME backfield, as are their opponents....
  13. Actually, I thought Leahy was going to wet himself, he was so giddy. I'm glad this game is at Mayfield and not at Murray at the "renovated" Ty Holland Stadium. If all is right in the cosmos, Mayfield will never return there. Leahy and crew have to sit outside the press box because it's not big enough to hold all the radio coverage. Imagine sitting outside right smack dab in the middle of those Tiger Mommas, while you're trying to be objective, but somehow you just can't resist taking a poke at them when the team commits an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Don't know what it's like under Edwards regime, but under Fisher and his crew, you knew there were at least 2 or 3 comin'. (If looks could kill). As far as Ty Holland Stadium renovations, I think they should have started with a wrecking ball and a bulldozer. A new coat of paint hardly qualifies for "renovation".
  14. I think it all boils down to Mayfield stopping the Graves running game. The Eagles like to run, and so far they haven't had anyone successful at totally stopping it. Both teams have good momentum. But this is usually Mayfield's game to lose. A Graves win means more to their players and fans than it does Mayfield's. That's cuz Graves rarely wins this game...
  15. YOu're right about the former coach part. Paul Leahy was a long time assistant under Jack Morris there at Mayfield, then became head coach with 3 state title appearances, before retiring in 1998 and then being lured away by the dozens of dollars you can make every year in the broadcast booth. I tend not to like the use of the word "we", either, but with his status, I think it can be overlooked. "You can take the coach out of Mayfield, but you can't take the Mayfield out of the coach". :jump:
  16. You can listen to the webcast of the 1A game at this link Mayfield NCC 1A Championship Game Not sure of the other games, but I'd bet somebody has them.
  17. Mayfield Bardstown Webcast Click on the "Listen Now" icon. Be thankful in this age of technology, that this game is available anywhere on the planet. Pre-game show airs appx 5:35pm CST. Happy Thanksgiving.
  18. You can hear all of Mayfield's games by logging on to http://www.96classiccountry.com. Those who have wanted to listen in at the game, probably couldn't because of local tower interference, and this broadcast could not be heard cleanly in War Memorial Stadium. Thanks to a low power re transmitter, (FCC approved), you can pick up the local broadcast within a 1/4 mile of any stadium they play in, not just local games. 95.9FM :jump: Of course, you might get a dose of what Paul Leahy REALLY thinks during the breaks, as this transmits EVERYTHING, as long as the mikes are hot. :flame:
  19. I think you misunderstand my question. If Mayfield and Graves BOTH win, then Graves could have a home playoff game, too. Which team has the right to play on Friday night? I'm guessing you don't know either...
  20. Westsider, I think you're right, with Apollo being the 3 seed and Christian the 4 seed. Interesting possibility, tho, eh?
