I haven't seen a game all year.... I'll make a point to see this one. Any thoughts from those who know, and perhaps witnessed round 1?

Calloway had this game won, and lost it in OT...I think this game is a total tossup and Mr. Robinson will lead the Flash to victory in the end...

Early prediction:

Lone Oak - 34

Calloway - 31

Who knows what will happen, I really wish I could go, but my Mayfield Cardinals will be playing an equally big game down in Fulton City. My buddy said we should just have a double header at MSU so we could watch em all, it would be cool with me, lol.

Lone Oak Purple Flash

All-time Record: 2-5

Calloway County Lakers

Should be a lot of hype this week surrounding this much anticipated District 1 Class 4A matchup for the championship. Lone Oak rallied from 21 down to sqeak out a 34 to 28 OT at Calloway Co earlier this season. My gut feeling is that want happen again, the Flash have too many offensive weapons for the Lakers to stop & have the homefield advantage. I'll say Lone Oak 48 to Calloway Co 20.

I'm a big Lone Oak fan, but you have to admit that Calloway will give the Flash a very tough challenge. They have some excellent athletes and are well coached. They are also motivated after the OT loss at home earlier in the season.

At the same time a lot of Lone Oak detractors, and there are tons of them, forget that the Oakers are motivated to show that the first half deficit to Calloway was an aberration. They muffed a couple of punts (give credit to the Lakers' special teams) and Calloway took them out of their game. Lone Oak wants to show that they can beat Calloway, and beat them handily putting together two good halves. The Calloway game was a good wake up call to the Flash and they've played incredibly since, dominating solid teams from Hopkins Central, Fulton City and Heath.

Another game goes to overtime. Calloway on top this time. Calloway County 30 - Lone Oak 28.

Actually, there were two bad snaps on punts on Lone Oak's first two possessions ... both gave Calloway a short field and the Lakers led 14-0.

Calloway didn't take Lone Oak out of their game at all. They did a good job defensively in the first half, but the offense couldn't run enough clock to keep Lone Oak from coming back.

Good points. You put it much better than I did.

LOTS of motivation on both sides. Interestingly now, the pressure's on Lone Oak, not Calloway. Everyone's expecting a LO win since they've posted such big numbers, so they've got everthing to lose with an undefeated season on the line. Biggest factor in the first game was Calloway's beast Tyrrell Willis going out of the game near the end of the 3Q, weakening the CC defense considerably at a crucial time. Everyone seems to have forgotten that. Willis is a huge catalyst on defense for the Lakers and Calloway was in a completely new defensive alignment for the first time that week and Willis' absence completely threw the Lakers into defensive meltdown the rest of the game. And, he has been playing like a man among boys at RB since the Lone Oak game. Weapons? Lone Oak has two big guns to matchup with Calloway's three. Lone Oak: Robinson and Brown the mainstays (yes other solid receivers, but NO RUNNING BACK, PERIOD). Calloway - QB Brockman (29 TDs passing, only two INTs in the last six games vs. 19 TDs), WR Garner (school-record 16 TDs receiving), soph RB Willis (avging about 110 rushing yds per game since LO loss). Dobbins and rest of Lakers receiving corp match up very well with Lone Oak receivers. This is going to be a very good game. Lone Oak is a good team. Lakers are a much-improved team that has sharpened against much better competition since the Lone Oak game. Finally, Lakers admit they play better on the road (5-1). Friday night's gonna be great!

As an outsider but a huge fan of the area, I say why not.....Would be great for the local kids to play on the turf and on a college field... Have to root on the Lakers, as I know quite a few Laker Parents who are outstanding people who work for Murray State.

Go Lakers......

Great thought. NEVER happen. Host schools want the home field advantage and the $ from the concessions. I thought the entire playoff gate went to KHSAA, but maybe not. Heard that Lone Oak was charging a premium for their tickets in Round 1, so that tends to make me think that the host school also keeps at least part of the gate. If the homer does keep part of the gate that further cements that a MSU DH would never happen. Any clarification on gate split, and what the ticket prices will be at LO this Friday? I don't think regular season passes, student passes, faculty etc passes are honored at any of the playoff games.

Teams split the gate. One of the reasons why many SCHOOLS (not necessarily the coaches) like the new playoff format because it means teams closer together playing in the first round.

As for the game, Calloway has the motivation but Lone Oak has the momentum. Oakers by 21.

Are you positive that the teams split the gate? I was told by one school official that the KHSAA gets most of the gate minus the expenses in the playoffs.
