  1. I told you guys Lone Oak was good, and they don't make mistakes. Of course, there's still a half to play. Regardless of outcome, they show much better today than 2 years ago.
  2. For a team that didn't even know if they were going to have a head coach after the first few games, this is a story within a story. As a WKY boy, I've gotta pull for the Tornado. This is a team that has proven, don't count them out, and it is not over, till it's over. If they do beat Somerset, I see a movie deal for somebody.
  3. Points well taken. Both teams are very high quality, and while I'm sure that Boyle's coach is very good, Jack Haskins has to be one of the best motivators and definitely one of the best high school coaches in this game, (Although he never takes any credit for himself). Boyle will have to have enough fokes on defense to keep an eye on 5 competent receivers at any one time. Lone Oak can run, but they like it in the air. (260 yards passing avg per game) I hope to be able to witness this slugfest in person, but if not, I'll be listening on the KHSAA web site. I'm pulling for Lone Oak, but I wish the best for both teams and may it be a game for the annals of championship history.
  4. LOne Oak will have to start making mistakes. They usually don't. Looper has thrown but one interception all year, and they rarely fumble. They have no less than five competent receivers on the field on offense, and Matt Starks is nearly unstoppable running the ball. Defensively, they adjust well, and will wear you down. Good luck if they ever get a 2 TD lead on you. Boyle will have to play an error-free game to win this one. Marion County had virtually no passing attack. Hard to play catch up when all you've got is run, and you're playing against a great run defense. If Boyle has a balanced attack, I think the game's a toss up. All I can say to Boyle, is, don't get overconfident. Lone Oak is MUCH better than what you think.
  5. Hey Fellow BGPers, I am hoping someone can provide a little more specific insight to the Marion County Knights. I've gleaned some basics, but not being in their area, I don't have access to much information about the program, other than their record thru the KHSAA. Can someone provide some specific players to watch, offensive/defensive schemes, any stats that would be helpful, any interesting moments this season, or clutch plays which might have made the difference in a game? We'll have the game video webcast on http://www.wpsdlocal6.com, and would like a little more info/background, if someone can be so kind to provide.
  6. The Lone Oak vs Marion County 4A semifinal will be video webcast on http://www.wpsdlocal6.com Friday night starting at around 7:27CST. Link should be easy to find on their home page.
  7. I don't know that it's better than explained, we'll let you be the judge. But really, there isn't much seating for opposing team fans. If you're on the sidelines with your boys, then it won't matter. Just remember, it's actually a middle school field.
  8. Ty Holland renovated? Really? Did they ever finish? Honestly, I've been to places much worse, but with the pride they take in their program and community support in Murray, I would expect them to have something nicer. Shouldn't be a factor in the outcome of this week's game, though.
  9. Serious about everything except the War. I think it was actually during the Spanish-AMerican war. Honestly, the place is OLD! Needed renovation? Believe it! And the seating issue, believe it! A trip to the Falcon woodshed? Believe it! But hey, Murray should be happy with 12-1... Enjoy your trip and watch for those deer!
  10. There is limited, (very limited) seating for opposing crowds at Ty Holland Stadium. if you want a seat, I'd get there VERY early. Visibility is not good. The stadium was built during the Revolutionary War. It needs a lot of renovation. I'd suggest starting with a bulldozer. Fort Campbell wins by as much as they want.
  11. Wasn't it in 1985 when W KY had 3 title winners in the 4 class system? Crittenden Co in 1A, Mayfield in 2A, and Tilghman in 3A? I think I'm right, but somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  12. Depends on how focused Mayfield is when they come out. I think the only drama in this game will be the final score. I like Mayfield by 4... touchdowns... http://www.wpsdlocal6.com is where you can see the game's video webcast starting around 7:27CST.
  13. If I had my choice of one game to attend this week, this game, would be the game. Don't know who takes this one, but I don't see one that should be any better.
  14. The Mayfield-Crittenden County 1A Regional Championship will be video webcast this Friday, November 20th, air time appx 7:28CST. http://www.wpsdlocal6.com and look for the scroll prompting to view the webcast.
  15. May I also add a note of gratitude for each and every one of our military who have sacrificed for the freedoms we still enjoy. May God Bless and watch over each one of you.
  16. IMO, Lone Oak just outscores people. Take a team that has the ability to really mix it up, with a good passing game, and LO might have their hands full. I still like them at home 38-20, they're tough to beat at the Graveyard.
  17. Lone Oak vs Russell County Video webcast 7:30 CST. http://www.wpsdlocal6.com/local-6-live-stream/64575232.html You should be able to see the link on which to click.
  18. At this point, this game would have to be the most evenly divided poll on the site. The Beechwood Crit game is definitely the most lopsided. If BGP pollsters are all correct, then BW should win by 50+, and Calloway should beat BE 28-27, or something similar.
  19. I stand corrected. I've seen a couple of games this year, and what I saw, he looked pretty good. I must have missed the whole picture... D1 schools, ignore what I posted earlier...
  20. The only stat I'm sure of is that he's 6-3, 245 and is a junior. As far as speed in the 40, and bench press, I'd have to defer to someone a little closer to the program. He has put up some impressive performances this year, though. We all wish him the very best.
  21. If you're going purely by athletic ability, I'd think Casey Brockman, 6-2, 185 Sr QB, and Tyrell Willis, Jr, 6-3 245 Running back, both from Calloway County. I also think Jamarielle Brown of Lone Oak might be a D1 prospect, (6-1 175) but more likely as a defensive back as opposed to QB.
  22. If I were CC fans, I'd plan on staying the night. 4 1/2 hour return trip, late at night is no fun. Been there, done that, when Heath played BW in the 91 semifinals. Fort Mitchell is a nice town, nice area, very close to Cincinnati. Have a safe trip and just hope to keep it close. BW is rarely not in the semifinals. They've been there, year after year. The CC players weren't even a gleam in daddy's eye the last time CC went this far. Plus, it's on the road. Not saying CC can't win, but if they do, I think Moses parting the red sea would pale in comparison. B
  23. I would say Commander, that if CC has exposure to any kryptonite, their opening defense is not as good as their offense. CC got down early to Hopkins Central in their second round playoff game, (21-7 I think it was) before winning 28-21. Then, down 14-0 to Allen County before winning 42-26. It seems to take a little while for CC's defense to get in the groove. Getting down early to BE wouldn't be a surprise. But CC has the ability to make adjustments where they are needed, and I think they can handle BE, if the Lakers are as driven and focused as they should be. If BE does get the early lead, I'd say they need to keep mixing it up, to keep the CC defense off balance, and keep the pedal to the floor. You can't let up against CC and expect them to give up. Should be a great game. Westsider might be able to offer more insight on specifix with CC defense.
  24. To answer your question, I think this game is CC's to lose. BE has to do 3 things defensively. 1, is put a LOT of pressure on Brockman, and get him out of his comfort zone. That won't be easy to do, as Brockman is a senior, well-seasoned, and doesn't rattle easily. 2. They'll have to find a way to stop Tyrell Willis. In the last 2 months, nobody has. Depending upon the game plan, Willis will likely get a lot of yards rushing, and will play a key role in the Laker's success. 3. BE will have to find a way to successfully cover several other receivers, who can all run well after the catch. Man coverage? Zone? I dunno. Nobody's really made it work yet. Just know that if Willis and Brockman were all CC had, BE might be more of a favorite. But, Willis's success is largely due to CC having more than just a couple of great players. CC also has a very good kicking game in Garrett Schwettman. Wish I could make the game. As far as their defense, reference the post below.
