  1. Calloway County is also on a roll, and is starting to play their best football. If you want to play, "shoulda-woulda", they "should" be 13-0. Their loss to Marshall County was a total fluke, as that was the week before their much anticipated rematch with Lone Oak. Most foke are sure the Lakers just looked past Marshall. As for the Lone Oak game, they were tied with under a minute to play, and CC was deep in LO territory. All they had to do was run down the clock, kick a field goal for the win. Instead, they do something stupid and throw an interception, allowing LoneOak to go down the field and win on a FG at the last second. One of the most dramatic games I've ever seen. As for what Calloway has? They have an offensive line that gets better every week. They have one of the best QB's in the state in Casey Brockman, who, if not pressured, will pick apart most defenses with a plethora of receivers who can all do something with the ball after the catch. And oh, did I forget to mention Tyrell Willis? A junior, 6-3, 245 lb monster running back. If he gets a head of steam, it's like trying to stop a stud bull. He can also catch the ball, and he has even been known to throw the ball on certain plays. Has not had an off night in nearly two months. The only thing missing with Willis is a pair of blue tights and a red cape. Worth the price of admission, just to look at him. Not to say BE can't win this game, but it will take a little luck.
  2. Even though FS is the second seed in their district, could they be better than some expect? I've heard they're starting to gel at the right time and from what I can see, home game or not, Calloway is gonna have their hands full. I'd say they better play 4 full quarters instead of the first and the fourth. Any insight out there on Franklin Simpson's trek this season? What can we expect this Friday?
  3. Many in the region are talking about a Lone Oak-Calloway rematch. I say Lone Oak better take care of business with Allen County. While I think that Lone Oak is very capable of winning this second round game, their defense is gonna have to step it up another notch. ANy other insight on Allen County?
  4. Warren East at Lone Oak 4A is going to be webcast at http://www.wpsdlocal6.com
  5. Game will be webcast at http://www.wpsdlocal6.com
  6. This might be a good job for a young head coach. There's only one way for this program to go and that's up... With the exception of a special group of kids about 7 or 8 years ago, Reidland has most always been a regional dormat.
  7. Better not overlook Russell County. And if Calloway does get to the second round, they'll likely face Franklin Simpson... I know a lot of fokes are anticipating a Lone Oak/Calloway rematch. I'm betting it doesn't happen.
  8. Heath is probably as bad as you could ever imagine. Fort Campbell, now that they have blown their 10-0 season, will be pretty irked going into the game with Heath next week. Could hang 100+ on this team with no problem. What a way to end your season.
  9. Graves County gave away 5 fumbles and 2 interceptions. Trinity coaches loaded up and left at halftime. Not much to see. I'm surprised they even bothered. Get the woodshed ready...

  12. Yes, as I understand it, this would be just 10-12. Which is how Tilghman was many years ago, as the middle schools were 7-9. And currently, Paducah city is an independent school system, and not part of the county. That's part of how I don't see how the two will ever really get together. But I personally, think it would make more sense.
  13. Sorry, it's late. I'm sleepy. I'm delusional... but not intoxicated for once.
  14. I don't know that financially, it would make sense to make 2 out of 3. I personally, would think that consolidating city and county together, to make 2 out of 4 might make more sense, although I don't know how it would be done. But I'd take Tilghman with the other 3 and mix em together to make a North and South McCracken. (Or East and West) Would still have 2 pretty big schools.
  15. Not to be smart, but you wouldn't have to be Nostradamus to figure this one. Quite honestly, Calloway could have named their score on Fulton County. The Pilots are one of the smallest football playing schools in the state, in a very depressed area of the state. Their kids play hard, and regardless of record, they all still have a lot of pride in that area. The people there, are really good fokes. I'm really happy for them when they taste success in anything. Believe it or not, Fulton County beat Mayfield soundly early in the 93 season, before Mayfield ran the table and won the state championship.
  16. For those of you in other parts of the state, there's a BIG ruckus over potential consolidation of McCracken County schools of Heath, Lone Oak and Reidland for the high school system. A LOT of fokes in Reidland, (and all three communities for that matter) strongly oppose the consolidation. They want their kids to attend the school the parents went to. There's a lot more to this discussion that should likely be kicked around in a different forum, but this would be the ONLY way they'd ever taste consistent victory in football. For the record, I think the consolidation is gonna happen in the not so distant future. Westsider might have a little more insight.
  17. Caldwell is in second place in 2A first district. Caldwell will travel to Mayfield next week. If Mayfield plays the smash mouth football they played Thursday night against Marshall County, Caldwell might have another thing coming. Had Mayfield played that well all season, they'd be 8-1, with only a loss to Fort Campbell in the opener. (Still don't think they could have beaten them)
  18. Reidland is in southern McCracken County, being 2A, I'm not positive, but I believe their enrollment is around 500 or so. They had a pretty good team about 7 or 8 years ago, going all the way to the regional finals behind a quarterback named Brian Behrendt. This story could be started, "Once upon a time", as they've had football since about 1970, and have only had one really good team. If they go .500, it's a good year. Why they play poorly year after year, in my guess, is probably a combination of things, starting with a lack of winning tradition. Other than girls softball, Reidland's athletic programs have never been consistently competitive.
  19. OC was ranked #10 in their class, and how this happened, is beyond me. Got the score off TV. I'm stunned, too.
  20. Actually Ballard is... They'll play #2 seed Caverna in round one of Region 1 1A. Reidland, is the ONLY team in the state in 2A that won't make the playoffs. THeir misery is almost over for football, then their basketball misery begins.
