Well it is finally time for the big district 1 game between Mayfield and Fulton City. Fulton comes into the game with a 7-0 record and Mayfield is 6-2.

 

Mayfield will have to play a better game against Fulton than they did against Murray. In the Murray game Mayfield had four turnovers and still won going away.

 

Fulton City will have to have more than just a running game if they want to beat Mayfield. I really just don't think Fulton has a good enough line for them to run all over Mayfield.

 

 

Good luck to both teams and will the Mayfield fans have to get to Fulton at 2:00 just to get a seat.

Make of it what you will. It seems on paper that Mayfield is the better team. Mayfield had more total yards against Murray than Fulton City had and also game up fewer yards on defense. Fulton did score 4 more points on Murray than Mayfield did but they gave up 14 more points on defense than Mayfield did.

When was the last time 'big district game' and 'Mayfield and Fulton City' were used in the same sentence? :lol:

If Massey's information is correct, Fulton City has won one more game this season (7) than all of its opponents have won combined (6). That's right, Fulton City has not yet defeated a team with more than one win to its credit. Massey ranks FC's strength of schedule at #221.

It seems every other year a 1st District team has a good record coming into the Mayfield game and they have thoughts of up setting the Cardinals. Ballard Memorial had some good teams with good records a few years ago and they got their dreams shattered. Murray had an undefeated team 2 years ago and they got their first loss put on them by the Cardinals. These examples are the reason that Mayfield fans don’t really pay attention to teams with good records unless they start trash talking. It will have to be proved to Mayfield by beating them before any respect is given as in being a good football team. If Fulton City beats Mayfield I will be the first one to congratulate them on the win and with them good luck the rest of the year. I hope this is a good football game and all players and coaches come out of it safe and healthy.

The Massey Ratings have not been updated for this past weekend's games, so Gleason City must have won its second game. I don't have a problem with Fulton City's schedule either. They lost to most of the same teams on their schedule last season, and the Murray game was a huge turnaround from last season. It looks like the program is definitely headed in the right direction. I hope that the game between Mayfield and FC is competitive, but FC has made major strides this season regardless of the outcome of the Mayfield game.

I think Fulton City has done well by scheduling winnable games. Hopefully they can go in and compete with Mayfield, which would go a long way toward building their program in the future. Fulton City has such small numbers though, its hard for me to imagine them consistently competing at the top of a district. Especially next year, when they pick up normally-competitive Crittenden County in their district.

I really do not think anyone believes Fulton City will come anywhere close to putting up a good game; nor do many feel that way when any other team from the district comes in undefeated on a consistent basis. Even though Murray lost to Fulton City, I really think the Tigers are just as good or better than the Bulldogs... some unfortunate calls and a lack of knowing how to win ultimatley brought the Bulldogs to their victory.

I agree. The phantom pass interference call really hurt Murray. I was standing at the end zone and I didn't see anything.

Mayfield is comming off one of their worst preformances of the year, (maybe its worst depending on ones take of the Graves game) that being said I do not think anyone will get a accurate picture from comparision of both teams stats against Murray. Mayfield should have been able to beat Murray by more but didnt. mayfield wins real big 49-7

Being a Beechwood fan, I will take our old rival, Mayfield wins hands down. They play a big schedule to prepare themselves for these type games. Tradition wins this one.

I hope so, but if Mayfield can't hold on to the ball the score won't be as high as some would think, unless Fulton City's defense can hold Mayfields. You are right about Adam, he is supa fast. He is starting to get some recognition, I heard he went to talk to some folks up at Illnois State this weekend, .

Man, Mayfield was flat Friday night....Not knocking any teams in our district, I don't care if it's Murray, it has to be tough for a 17 year old kid to get ready to play a team that's only win was a come from behind win over cellar dweller Ballard Memorial. They dumped Gatorade on the coach and sung the fight song!

 

Anyway, Qb Deron Williams may cause the Cardinals some fits, but I don't think he turns the corner on them...I just don't think the Bulldogs challenge the Cards in this one...They will be ready to play!
