Mayfield 37 Hancock Co. 10

Featured Replies

This game was could have been much worse, 3 td's called back and Hancock scored on 2nd team defense on the last play. Hancock was hardnosed on defense but couldn't contain the big play. Their offense never moved the ball. Mayfield had some trouble out the gate but finally put it together.

……………………..Mayfield………………Hancock County

First downs……………17………………………..6

Rushing Yards………..287………………………116

Passing……………...8-16-1…………………..4-10-0

Passing Yards………..76………………………80

Total Yards…………..363……………………196

To actually sum this game up...Mayfield played very well except for the big pass play of 70 yards they gave up in the first quarter. Mayfield's 1st team "D" gave up somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 yds total, 70 of which were on that pass play. I was impressed with Chance Sherrill who stepped up at CB in place of Brown and played a really good game.

Mayfield had three TD's called back like snakesnot said and also threw an INT on Hancock's 5 yd line going in for another score.

ONLY NEGATIVE I SAW: MAYFIELD NEEDS TO TUCK IN THEIR JERSEYS....TUCK EM IN...TUCK EM IN....TUCK EM IN....TUCK EM IN!!! I and other fans are sick of seeing them hang out. It looks sloppy and caused a Mayfield player to get tackled on more than one occasion. IT DOES NOT LOOK COOL and the Mayfield staff and refs need to enforce this like they use to!!!

Other than that...great game by the Cards...should be a dandy Friday against the Rockets!!!

Lol, we were talking about the jersey thing at the game as well. My father-in-law was telling me that they used to have tear-away jerseys but those got too expensive and they had to ditch that idea. Just can't understand why anyone who is going to catch or carry the ball wouldn't want their jersey tucked in, it makes it that much more difficult to tackle a person!!

I believe tear-away jerseys were outlawed years ago.

But cheerleaders can still wear them...
