A lot of people were not surprised by NCC winning region. They have been considered a top 3 or 4 team in the region all year with the best player in the region. Anything can happen in one game. Another thought. Let's say Cov Cath wins the region 3 out of the next 5 years ( all hypothetical), I would consider that about apart of the same "dynasty".

The fouls mounted in the second half for Conner but it wasn't until they had to foul did they have any real foul trouble. I think half way through the 3rd quarter Conner only had three players in the scoring column. I also do not think Conner led at any point in the game. They played tough and made shots but CCH seemed very sloppy at times with unforced turnovers and multiple missed put backs. Overall, Conner played a good game and gave CCH a lot of fits but the better team won.

Could anyone give the starting five and year of either team?

CCH and Cooper both return a lot. CCH will return 4 starters next season. I'd say CCH and Cooper will be 1a and 1b but I'm sure CCH will get the preseason nod as #1 just from going further in this years region. But as far as Walters, I have never seen the kid play much, but you never know what a whole offseason can do for a kid that size.

Where exactly can you park and walk? Thinking about doing the same thing.

I've been to 9th region championship games at Ryle, Conner, Holmes, and NKU. A packed high school gym, which the championship games always are, is pretty awesome. Holmes is my favorite of the three high schools mentioned. But the last few regional championship games at NKU have been great. Around 7000 people have shown up to them. Enough room to not be uncomfortable or hot but enough people for a great atmosphere. I like the regional CHAMPIONSHIP game being at NKU, at least for the boys. Plus I do not consider playing on a college floor a con. If anything it better prepares the players for Rupp. But with all that being said. Most of the cons mentioned about playing at NKU I agree with and it could be made better.

Scott County, Oldham, and Boone were all counties where expansion made sense. They are some of the fastest growing counties in the state. Boone County represented almost 25% of the growth in greater Cincinnati from 2000 to 2010 with continued growth expected all over the county. Boone County, Conner, and Ryle all have higher enrollments this school year, according to the KHSAA enrollment audit, than they did in 2002-2003 even with the opening of Cooper in 2008. Conner and Boone's enrollments are similar to what they were in 2003 but Boone County is in no shortage of developing subdivisions. I really believe more schools means more opportunities for kids, provided that resources aren't stretched so thin across the school districts which is often not the case when expansion takes place.

When was the last time X won region?

None of the schools were 1A. I believe it was Harlan County that did that.

Really favorable draw for Cov Cath. Can't take any games off but beat Newport by 31 earlier in the year. They also beat Saint Henry by 20 and Conner by 31, both on the road.

I've never seen a school put their region on the court like colleges put their conference. A pretty simple idea that I'm really liking.

But can they keep it up through the 10th region tournament? What are their realistic chances of winning the 10th?

Augusta has been pretty impressive over the past few years. Not backing down from anyone.

I know this has been brought up before. But always thought it was odd/funny that the Kenton County school district has 3 high schools (Simon Kenton, Dixie, and Scott) in three different regions. Doubt they'll be put back together in the next alignment though.

I'm a big fan of Coach L. But when he did and didn't sub players was one of the biggest reasons some people became upset with him in his final years at CCH.

Beechwood last made it in 2009

Highlands has a great athletic program. It's a great school and great community. As is Cov Cath. But he said "a bit more" which is hard not to agree with. Golf - Cov Cath Cross Country - I can safely say I have no idea. I know CCH has at least one state title. But has spent a lot of the time over the years in AAA while Highlands has been AA. But not sure who has been better. Soccer - has been pretty even but Cov Cath with the state title gives them the nod. Football - Highlands. Swimming - I'd say Cov Cath is the #2 program in the state. Basketball - Cov Cath by a lot as of the last 5 or so years. But was much more competitive before that. Tennis - Cov Cath has something like 15+ straight regional titles. I think Highlands is in a different region but CCH has been better over the years. Baseball - outside of the past two years, Cov Cath has been a much better program. Although it has been a while since their last regional championship. But are still the last NKY school to win state. Track - Cov Cath has something like 19 regional championships the last 20 years. Highlands has a more recent state championship and has been very good. But over the years Cov Cath has been better and more consistent. Although Highlands has had some really good teams.

I'm really not trying to sound rude, but I have no clue where you got that data. All those scores all way to high. CCH average scores are usually between 25-26. A very good score. Beechwood usually scores right around there. According to the state of Kentucky, they had an average ACT score of 23.5 in 2008 up to 25.6 in 2012. Then according to cincymagazine, Beechwood had an average of 25.3 in 2013 which is very very good for an average. Beechwood, Highlands, NDA, CCH, and the other schools listed are all great schools. But no high school is posting a 29 ACT average. Maybe a school like Cov Latin, but no traditional high school.

But often times better than a master of one.

Luckily for Coach L and the Bulldogs, it's all practice until district time. If you had to pick, what two teams represent the 35th district this year in the region?

Even really bad Covington Catholic teams are usually still good for atleast one playoff win. But everyone is right. That Highlands road block has been a killer for district/regional championships.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure tennis and wrestling(which is only in its third year) are now the only Cov Cath sports that have not won state championships.

From a couple pictures I saw, looks like 3 times as many Cov Cath students made the hour and fifteen minute trip as opposed to Henry Clays 10-15 drive.

Just glanced over the list of past champions. Unless I missed someone, Bowling Green is the only non Lexington or Louisville school to win a championship. Hoping Cov Cath can change that. Go Colonels!
