Been some great teams the last 5 years.

Bracken Central would have a beautiful facility on the intersection of AA 19.

The significance of 1998 is because?

The year Bracken built their new school and consolidation was considered

Tremendous idea but unfortunately it passed us by. Too many short sighted people involved in that decision. Could have created academic, athletic, and unanimity excellence across the board. We might even have had a 5000+ seat gymnasium.

30-40 years from now another school will be built and consolidation will happen.

I would hope that Bracken County would learn to take care of their present school buildings so they wouldn't have to build a new one every 40 years.

Five less players in the starting lineup at Bracken Central than currently. Probably fewer kids playing basketball than currently constitutes both teams. Likely the same number of regional titles now as they've won since then with two schools.

Consolidation is a good theory, but 1A combining with 1A hasn't had much sustained success anywhere recently in Kentucky. They still would have been much smaller than Mason, Campbell, Clark, Montgomery, etc. (and yes, I know they've won games against those teams, but they might have won in part because of their pride in the hometown team name on their jersey). As an obvious outsider looking in, I think two schools is an overall positive.

McCracken County combined 3 1A schools.

Not to mention, how many people would attend this new school from their respective schools? I seem to remember having family in Tollesboro attend Fleming County after they closed them in the early 90s.

None of the schools were 1A. I believe it was Harlan County that did that.

I think the OLD high school was built in the 40's, The new one in the late 90's. That looks like around 55 years to me
