I'm surprised by the score. Even though I picked CCH to win, I did something I told myself I would never do. I bought into the dixie hype.

I keep going back and forth with who is going to win this one. I'm still sticking withing CCH although Dixie is more than capable of winning this game. But I am surprised by how lopsided the voting is.

Great to see KY kids receiving D1 scholarships. Congratulations to Mr. McDonald. NKU could have a solid team here in a couple years. Would love to see them make the NCAA tournament when eligible especially with KY kids. Simply wondering, did he have other offers?

CCH is 33-7 against Dixie lifetime with the last loss coming in 2007. Two weeks ago I would have said the little Colonels take this one. But after seeing CCH, I think the Blue Colonels win this one. There was a lot of Dixie people at the CCH game today and heard from a couple of them that Dixie did not look as sharp as they should have last night. Dixie has a really tough D but I have trouble seeing the Dixie DBs being able to keep up with the CCH receivers. Dixie is going to have to keep their safeties back and need their corners to give a good buffer zone to stop the deep ball. I would not be horribly surprised with Dixie wins this one though. But at the same time I don't know how many times Dixie has come out and just shot themselves in the foot against CCH. 34-23 CCH win

Congrats Highlands. I have been told by X and non X people that X tends to play their better players on defense. I've seen X play four times over the past few years and was always very unimpressed with their offense. Sloppy routes, poor footwork, conservative play calling, etc. Their defense is usually pretty nasty. Never really understood how a school like that doesn't have a super explosive offense.

Anyone know anything about the Bombers? They usually have at least one high D1 guy. Hope the Bluebirds show them what KY football is all about and come out injury free.

Then Saturday varsity games are for you! Forces the JV games to Monday night. But yes, there is something special to playing under the lights. Don't care what the sport is.

No disrespect meant to the schools that I said have nothing. I know they all do the best with what they have and do a great job with it. I know this is all off topic but doesn't New Cath have plans for a football field?

Most Catholic High Schools that I know of do not have all athletic fields on campus. All below have gyms so when I say none I am not counting that. Cov Cath - soccer/football/lacrosse/track and baseball are on campus. Saw on twitter a few weeks ago that tennis courts have also been approved and will be installed in the near future. CCH also has a couple new grass practice fields behind the baseball field I believe. New Cath - nothing. They do have a practice field for football up on the hill I believe. Brossart - nothing Holy Cross - nothing Villa Madonna - Soccer and baseball on campus. Not sure about tennis courts. Lex Cath - Football/soccer/lacrosse/baseball/softball share one big field. They make good use of it. But their turf was ROUGH before they replaced it. Trinity - Football/soccer/lacrosse. They used to have baseball but got rid of the field when the football field was re done. I believe they rent a baseball field near by. St. X - everything. You name it they have it. But I am pretty sure their football is fairly new. Didn't they used to share/rent a field from a Louisville Public? I could be wrong. DeSales - Baseball only I believe. But I saw someone on here recently say they are currently building a football field on campus. Ohio Elder - Football only. Not even soccer on campus. But I do believe the own a athletic complex near by. Moeller - I think they have a couple turf practice fields on campus but not sure if they play any varsity sports there. I know they do not for football. As mentioned earlier, they rent Lockland's field which is not super close to Moeller. I think a few years ago scheduling became a problem when Lockland made the playoffs in their respective class. LaSalle - Football/soccer/track and tennis all on campus. Cincy St. X - you name it they have it. I think even one of the big Catholic schools in Cleveland (either St. Edwards or St. Ignatius) does not have a football field either. As mentioned above, in the late 70s when the football field was build, CCH was told no lights. But they have not actively pursued lights until very recently. Lights will come. It is now a matter of when and not will they.

SK has traditionally played a very week non district schedule because traditionally SK has been very weak. They are coming into their own and have been strengthening their schedule over the past few years. They finally seem committed to playing a solid schedule. Give them some credit. Better late than never.

Moving the game to 10 really is not that big of a deal. Would most people prefer a Friday night game? Yeah, no doubt. I know I would. But for this situation it is probably what is best (provided the weather forecast remains the same). CovCath will not want to give up a gate and it would probably be tough to give Boone 48 hours of notice to host a game. Yes, NKY is the only place the regularly plays JV games on Saturday but these are two NKY teams. IMO playing on Friday night is a better atmosphere than Saturday afternoon. No one is saying playing the game Saturday morning is an ideal situation but it is not a horrible situation either. It is probably the best option to go with if it does get that hot. This is probably being made a bigger deal of than it should.

There is a thread on this topic that was posted in the Football Forum a couple weeks ago. There was a article posted in the thread. It said when the new school opens in will house 700 students. It said when all phases are complete, it will house around 1500 students. With 1500 students a school will be able to offer a lot of different sports, activities, clubs, and classes. There are negatives and positives to both a huge school vs. two medium to large schools. But in this situation, probably the right thing to do is open a second school. I think students will be getting more opportunity as opposed to less.

Unless this CCH team is very different from basically all past teams, then most of the CCH players do not like playing on Saturday either. There is also a chance of pop up thunderstorms. So it could be nice and muggy for the game. Crowds at CCH have lacked simply because they play on Saturday. A lot more people would be going to CCH games if they were Friday night. It is time for lights. It has actually been time for years. It would benefit the entire athletic program.

Yes they were. The 09 team was pretty darn good also. The other "great" SK teams I do not think come that close to those two. I think the 09 team was much much better than the 08 team that had a lot of holes in it covered by a few great players. The problem with jumping on the SK bandwagon is their history. Unless you've been following NKY football for only a few years you know SK has a terrible history. SK did not make the playoffs very often when there was only 4 classes and a lot of the times only won a few games a year against lower level competition. SK is on the rise, no doubt. But can't blame anyone for being skeptical. A couple more solid seasons would shut me up pretty quick though.

The sad thing is that SK is not that far removed from Dayton, Lloyd, and Owen County being regulars on the schedule. That schedule is a monster compared to what they played in the early and mid 2000s

CCH is 25 -12 against Boone lifetime with their last lost coming in 2003. Does Boone have any kids playing both ways? The weather is not expected to be prime football weather so this could be a big factor. Hopefully it does not get as hot as expected so the game time does not have to be changed.

I thought it was Army that offered him. UL might have also but I am not sure. I am pretty sure though that he committed to Georgetown and worked out with the team for a few weeks before deciding it wasn't for him. Nothing wrong with that.

Very True. I think Halpin at WKU started four or five games last year as a PWO. He has since earned a scholarship. I would be surprised if Mosier does not earn a scholarship at some point at UK. Also have read good things about Fogle.

What year did Mainello graduate high school? I thought it was 09 if I am thinking of the right person. I thought I saw on here that Sheehan transferred to Georgetown. Could have been someone else I read that about and I am just confusing the names. But if we are adding FCS, does Bradley Way from CCH still play at Wofford? He was an on and off starter on the O line there last year as a freshman I believe.

Some positives and negatives for both teams. But overall a good scrimmage. Cov Cath was pretty generous with there substitutions, a lot of underclassmen got some reps in the varsity portion. CCH was pretty conservative with their play calling, looking like they did not want to show much. I don't think they ever threw it more than 10-15 yards down field. They probably ran it through the 3 or 4 hole with the QB or RB a good portion of the time. I would have liked to see Wagner get a chance to air it out but understand not wanting to show it. Campbell County came out swinging even after Erpenbeck took the opening kick off to the house basically untouched to start of the time. Campbell responded well with a nice TD drive that was scored by a good run of the QB. The kid looked pretty good on the night. The Camels were flying around and laying some good hits. The Camels were showing their fellow players some love when ever they made a play, it was a quick reminder why high school football is so great. The Campbell receivers did a nice job of settling into holes and the QB did a good job getting it there. The QB missed a couple and the WRs dropped a couple but overall a good showing. The Camels had some big boys and a couple speedy backs who will make some good plays this year. Campbell responded nicely to a couple CCH scores but it seemed that CovCath wore them down. By mid 2nd quarter CCH oline and dline were winning the LOS battle the majority of the time. I think it was said above but the Campbell secondary probably needs to do a better job. CCH receivers were usually open especially when the ran combo routes with each other. One WR seemed to be always open by a lot. This was the problem with the Campbell D the past few times CCH played them, they could not stop the CCH WRs from getting behind them. The Campbell safeties were not playing deep and were staying up to help with the run. I really thought CCH could have exploited this if they really wanted to. The CCH D did a good job of flying to the ball but at time did a poor job of hitting and driving. At the same time the Camel players did a great job of lowering their shoulder and driving their legs. Churned out a few extra 1st downs by doing this. The JV portion was all Cov Cath. The JV CCH QB did a really good job of staying in the pocket and delivering a nice throw nearly every time. The JV colonels D was flying around and making some nice hits.
