Should the Covington Catholic - Boone County game be moved to 10am Saturday?

Featured Replies

Clyde mentioned this in the prediction thread.

There is a forecast high of 93 on Saturday. That along with the fact that we have had a cool summer where the players have not been acclimated to extreme heat seems to make this one a no-brainer.

So should the game be moved to 10am?

Nope. It should be moved to Boone County on Friday night, since Covington Catholic doesn't have to proper facilities to host an evening game when the temperatures would be more appropriate. Who plays a football game at 10am?

Who's to say the temperature will be "appropriate" Friday evening?

With the turf field, and extreme heat/humidity, you just may be better off playing at 10am on Saturday, than 7pm on Friday night, as the sun would have been heating the turf surface all day.

Definitely needs to be moved to something other than its original scheduled time. I wouldn't really personally have a problem with moving it to Boone County on Friday night.

But they will practice in near 90 temp this week

This game used to be played at 5PM on Friday at CovCath. I thought that was cool. No pun intended.

The problem isn't practicing or playing in the heat. The problem is will the heat index allow the game to be played at all. With a 93 degree temperature, humidity has to be under 50% in order to allow the game to be played. Considering the field will likely be even hotter, if we see 93, the game will not be played unless you go early in the morning.

How many games do you honestly expect to be canceled Friday night?

There's your answer. Unless you have another absurd hypothetical.

Again, who else plays a football games at 10am? If your logic is solid, then why wouldn't they play the game at 6am? I would venture a guess that the turf would be cool then.

Who wants to play on a Saturday anyway, I agree with RAM move it to Boone on Friday...... SMH this isn't peewee

Hello?! Home field advantage. Leave it at CovCath. What's wrong with playing at 10am? JV teams do it every Saturday, don't they?!

Ok, I've been missing from the football forum for awhile. But, I thought CCH was finally getting lights? Last summer or this summer? What ever happened to that?

What does the concession stand serve for a 10am game? Biscuits and gravy? Cereal? Does the PA announcer say, "everyone get down to the concession stand and get your Captain Crunch"?. Cheerleaders doing cheers, "Wipe that sleep from your eye, and give us a battle cry"? Does the student section wear their pajamas?
