Unless this CCH team is very different from basically all past teams, then most of the CCH players do not like playing on Saturday either. There is also a chance of pop up thunderstorms. So it could be nice and muggy for the game. Crowds at CCH have lacked simply because they play on Saturday. A lot more people would be going to CCH games if they were Friday night. It is time for lights. It has actually been time for years. It would benefit the entire athletic program.

 

The powers that be are well aware. The fact is, they have been working on moving Cov Cath football to Friday nights for almost half a decade at this point, but it takes a lot more than a declaration of need to make it happen. Personally, with this Friday/Saturday calling for 90+ temps (Lex/Louisville area and in between is calling bt 93-96 and H.I. around 105), every game on Friday or Saturday played before 6:00 (personally, 7..bc 6 is still considered the heat of the day) should be moved back an hour.

 

I love the heat. But it's not about fans, coaches or individual preference...it's about the kids.

 

As we all know...the ONLY way to acclimate yourself to those types of temps is to practice in them. We haven't seen the likes of these temps NOR remotely close since before Dead Period.

 

If scheduled to play before 6....back it up to 7:00.

 

Easy decision IMO.

Like I said, JV players do it every Saturday.

 

Not saying it's wrong. I personally like it, but NKY is the only area in KY where JV games are on Saturday morn. Which, one of the reasons they do this is bc of not having to travel very far for away games (for most).

 

Being in more rural parts of the state, rolling in at Midnight-1am, then playing 9 hours later makes for some long day(s).

I've never played a football game at 10am either, doesn't mean I want to start.

 

Let me try to plan this "Saturday" out based on how my team does things.

1. 10am kickoff.

2. Pre-game warm ups would start at 8:45am

3. Players would have to start dressing at 8:15am (dressing and getting taped)

4. Players would be in the locker room at 8am.

5. Pre-game meal would be at 6am.

6. Players would have to get up at 5am.

7. I know the players would not go to bed at home the night before prior to 2am.

You'll have to edumacate me on what problems playing at 10am causes besides lack of sleep and less than adequate concessions. Kids are resilient.
