Well, it's obvious that playing football at 10am is not uncommon, you guys have proven that. What on earth was I thinking making outlandish claims that 10am football games were uncommon. I'm sure everyone around the state has taken notice and this will catch on in no time.

 

I've read every post in the thread, and Ram I get your point. I don't agree with it, but I get it. Small sampling of things that refute your point:

 

Aren't most teams preseason practices mainly in the mornings? They sure used to be. I'd think most of these guys have been practicing at or earlier than 10 am for part of the summer. No?

 

State championship games start at 11 am in Ohio and Kentucky. Is the extra hour really that big a deal?

 

High School kids are expected to be up and at full capacity for school five days a week by 8 am ish. ACT tests begin at 9 am sometimes. I don't see playing a ball game at 10 am as much of wrench in the works of the players. Seems like it's more of a wrench in the works of your perception of how we should treat high school varsity games.

 

Kids (including high level high school athletes) play games at and earlier than 10 am all the time in select and AAU tournaments. Baseball, soccer, softball, basketball, et al. Happens all the time. Happens even at the highest levels of all the sports I just mentioned where scouts and recruiters are in attendance. Kids are used to this.

 

And, I could be wrong on this, but I think we've seen other games in NKY moved to Saturday mornings due to the weather in recent years. I can't think of a specific example, but it seems like there have been some other games that ended being played or finished on Saturday morning.

 

Again, I get your point. But not every game is going to be played at 7:30 every Friday. Most NKY schools now play their Friday games at 7. Go figure.

This game used to be played at 5PM on Friday at CovCath. I thought that was cool. No pun intended.

 

If I remember correctly, it was a 5:30 kickoff, but I'm splitting hairs.

 

Cool thing about this game, it kicked off football in the state every other year (pun intended).

 

Looking back at those days, it was almost like the Thursday night opener the NFL has now. Two of the best teams in the state starting the season off, just a little before everyone else kicks off.

 

Always a great atmosphere and almost always a great game. You'd be hard pressed to get those games started today based on the heat index stuff though.
