Should the Covington Catholic - Boone County game be moved to 10am Saturday?

Featured Replies

Does that somehow validate this wrong doing?

Hell, the 3rd grade does it too.

The fact that CCH plays on Saturday's and it gets everyone worked up is exactly why they should not stray from tradition. Playing on Saturday gives them an advantage in that the coaches can scout on Friday's for the next game and the players know how to get themselves ready for a Saturday game (mentally and physically). If the current players do not like the Saturday schedule they do not understand the tradition and/or have selfish reasons.

You'll have to edumacate me on what problems playing at 10am causes besides lack of sleep and less than adequate concessions. Kids are resilient.

It's us old farts that need that extra 3 hours of sleep.

Play it at the regularly scheduled time you wussies

Let's get the kids involved then, someone call them and ask them if they want to play a 10am game. If 20% say yes, I will apologize and move on.

This is their sport, a sport that is unlike any other sport. It is, for the most part very regimented and played on Friday nights between the hours of 7 and 10pm. The players, coaches and fans like it that way. Ask coaches if they like Saturday games. Ask players if they like Saturday games. They don't. You have an extra day of practice, and then you have a short week to prepare of the next opponent. The structure is disrupted.

It's like telling some boxers, hey, we are going to have a fight at 10am. Who wants to get up and get punched in the face at 10am? Who wants to play football at 10am. No one.

This is the senior year for some of these players and they should be able to preform at their optimal level and playing a game at 10am does not facilitate optimal performance for a high school football player.

Come on Harry, you on board? Save the breakfast. Save the football. Save Saturday Morning.

Come on, join the movement:

I'm in.

JV/Frosh/ LL playing and then getting ice cream after. Rock it.

10am for for these guys? Move to Boone. Sat, Sunday. Could MAYBE go at noon and still be ok. MAYBE.

2pm-6pm. Rubber cleat melting and Egg Frying on the track time.

I played in a few Saturday games in high school and hated it. That being said, aside from the tradition of Friday night lights, there is no legitimate reason not to play on Saturdays. I know some games are played on Thursday nights around here (Holy Cross and Brossart come to mind because they don't have a home field), and no one really complains about that. A Thursday night game is more disruptive to the schedule than a Saturday game.

It's just one game?! They aren't proposing every home game at CovCath be played at 10am on Saturday.

Dont forget the officials probably did a game friday night too that ended around what 930-10pm.

But getting up at 6am for school on a Friday, going to school all day, and then playing a game that night does?

Well they aren't moving it to Friday- too much game planning would need to be changed. So IF it was moved three hours earlier, what's the big deal?

Personally, I don't think they will do anything about it and make an in game decision. Weather changes all the time.

But getting up at 6am for school on a Friday, going to school all day, and then playing a game that night does?

Thats what they do every day though.

True, but as you know a lot of them are doing JV games in NKY or pee wee games anyway.

Hey Ram, does moving it to 11 work for you?

Big difference between the difference type of games. BIG difference.

There's something to be said for routine.

I just have trouble seeing, playing, or going to a morning football game. Many colleges play around 1pm, or 2pm. I have trouble seeing football prior to Noon.
