I have trouble giving up home field.

I just have trouble seeing, playing, or going to a morning football game. Many colleges play around 1pm, or 2pm. I have trouble seeing football prior to Noon.

 

So last season if Raceland would have made it to the finals, you would have skipped the 11am start time?

 

Some things you have no control over and one is the heat. These things just have to be dealt with.

Heat isnt an issue in December, unless your a Penguin.

In the time I was at Cov Cath, this game was the season opener all four years. Both times it was hosted by Cov Cath, the game was started at 5:30pm on Friday at Wooten Field. We played Ryle all four years in week two as well. The same thing happened when we hosted that game.

My guess is that since the KHSAA implemented their rules regarding heat, the late afternoon game time would be tough to play, because of the heat.

 

I always did like going and seeing the Boone/CCH season opener, I am glad it was revised.

That's true...I was thinking in terms of the issue with the lights. 5:30 will essentially be just as hot as playing at 1:00.

If heat is the issue with playing on Friday night, then why do we not see more teams moving their games to Saturday at 10am?

Do the heat index rules that apply to practices also apply to games? Can/Do officials stop a game because of heat?

The kids have to deal with what the adults do, so they will probably be playing at 10am for money.

Speaking of $$$$$$$$, if Cov Cath finished putting their lights in, would'nt NCC , Brossart and Holy Cross line up to play their games there and keep the $$$$$ in the diocese? Maybe a lost gate or two speeds up the process?????

I was at the Covcath-Lasalle game on a Saturday at Covcath a few years ago. It was scorching hot and Covcath was getting beat pretty bad very quickly. Details are sketchy now. But, I remember they canceled the second half. I don't know if it was because of heat or the score, but they didn't offer to give the fans half their money back. I know it was a releif to Covcath fans, but I felt like I got ripped off. I came to watch my nephew play for LaSalle and only got to see a half. Play it whenever you are sure you can get in the whole game.
