D1 kids in NKY

Featured Replies

We all have heard it applied loosely to anyone with some talent. How many kids in NKY actually have the Motor, Skills, Physic to actually play D1? We all know "Johnny Smith" is a great ball player but if he's 5ft 7 150 lbs. runs a 5.0 40, benches about 160 I doubt he's going D1.

Year to year, I'd say NKY schools combined average maybe two to three D1 scholarship football players. That seems to be pretty steady.

Who is playing D1 football from NKY this season? Simpson is injured at UK. Hansel graduated at Ball State. Kelly, Eyckmans and Bowling are playing at EKU. Durham went to the Army. Colosimo still at UC? Lots of guys at GTown or NAIA.

Are we talking about kids currently in HS or kids currently playing FBS or FCS ball?

Only the kids with D1 offers are D1. Some kids can walk on and prove to be D1 talent, but a High School kid is not D1 without an offer.

From last year:

Drew Barker, QB Conner - University of Kentucky

Nick True, OL/TE Highlands - Western Kentucky University

Tyler Lyon, Newport Catholic - University of Cincinnati

Only the kids with D1 offers are D1.

The question was who was playing D1, not who was on full scholarship.

I was answering the original question.

Timmerman-CCH- Air Force

Halpin- CCH- WKU

I thought Ritter from CCH was playing at EKU.

On this years CCH team, the only kid I know has sure fire D1 offers is Tackle Sam Murrer

A shame about Sam Burchells injuries last year otherwise I think that kid goes D1. Northwestern was recruiting him among others.

Lex Sowards was going to Grey Shirt so he wouldn't be until next year but that has changed. A couple weeks ago he got a call from the coaches at Indiana State that a scholarship opened up for this year so he reported there the next day and has been with the team since then. So he currently on their team.
