  1. Saw Brents play live once. Came away impressed!
  2. This list makes me wonder what the criteria really is to be considered for Mr Football. While all these kids are very good players who meant a lot to their teams, the list should be no more than 4-5 deep and contain the players in the state who had the best year this year. I know the criteria or definition of "best year" can be defined many different ways, however, leaving Nick Bohn off the list is inexcusable. His stats dwarf all others on an all time national record setting level against a tough schedule. If that is not good enough then I don't know how you can defend many others on the list. I am not saying he is Mr Football but excluding him is just wrong. Just like the all-state teams the list smacks too much of politics. The award just lost some of its status. Give them all a plaque or trophy and call it a day. And yes, this has gone on way to long.
  3. No offense to AJ but to me you have other QB's in this state who can get the ball to receivers and make plays. But you don't have any other receivers anywhere near the capabilities of Rondale. He changes the other teams defenses and makes those around him that much better. I draft him first.
  4. The KHSAA enforcement is a joke. There is no way they could explain the how or why they make some of their decisions to anyone. NO respect for the KHSAA on this matter. Personally I don't care if a kid transfers to another school. I have a hard time if its an in season transfer. Other than that I don't have a problem with it.
  5. That makes AJ his team MVP but it doesn't make him the best football player in the state. No debate that both kids were surrounded by very talented teammates and that they were integral parts of their teams success.
  6. You can make either Mayer and Bohn first and second then do what you want with the rest. Nick Bohn had a much better year than Langhi. And if some folks are going to pick on Bohn for throwing to Rondale Moore a lot then lets talk about some other QB's who had stud receivers to throw to and had some very good stat lines in years past. Bottom line is the kid was record setting accurate and took what the defense gave him -- and not just 10 yard slants -- and did it against any and all teams.
  7. I am from Ohio and follow their high school football a little bit and have relatives still playing there. You don't see an AJ or a few other Ky QB's any given night. I have seen AJ play twice and saw the kid from Cincy St X at a few camps. I believe AJ is better and would beat him out to start. Also believe a few other kids in Ky could also win that job. But congrats to that kid for getting the full ride to Wisconsin. As far as not getting looks I met AJ and his dad at a Big Ten Schools Junior Day. He was getting "looks". Not sure how many other big schools were in touch with him. Why they didn't offer is a question for those coaches or maybe AJ's coach. Very hard to say. The difference between some of these kids is very small and in some cases maybe just "intangibles" based on what the coach is looking for. Who knows. But I believe he will do just fine at Miami and get a top notch education.
  8. Could not agree more. Best football player in the state!
  9. Who is going to take over at QB? Looking at the stats JR did the vast majority of running and passing which opened up opportunities for others.
  10. Reading the rosters in the paper. No CovCath players?
  11. Is this game normally broadcast? If so, can someone provide a link.
  12. Trinity will wear something that goes well with a ring!
  13. Got to see the first half. The overall size and athleticism of CovCath were on display last night. The offense has so many weapons. You have to respect Mayer running or throwing. His receivers are big and make incredible adjustments -- get it close and they come down with it. And the Colonels have several so you cannot focus on any one of them. Then there is the running game and they have several very good runners too. And the line creates holes and protects the QB - excellent offensive line. Overall one of the best offenses I have ever seen. I hear they get several of those kids back next year. With the first rate coaching they have it should be another good year for the Colonels. Hats off to Madison Southern. They played a very tough game but like was said above with the way CovCath puts pressure on you because they score so often it changes your game. I can see MS just grinding most teams into the ground. Couldn't keep it up enough vs the Colonels defense. Several times the MS defense was also in position to make plays but the Colonels were just too good. Congrats to both teams on great seasons!!
  14. How did they blow that call!! Wow!
  15. Couldn't agree more. Supporting cast and scheme play a part. Saying who is the best of the bunch is very difficult. And you cannot base it on offers. That brings in even different factors. Too many variables.
  16. I think they could if first off they control the line of scrimmage. South Oldham at times put pressure on the QB but not enough. The QB got too much time to go through his progressions and any QB will find someone open if you give him that much time. He also can run so you have to either keep him in the pocket or have a spy good enough to bring him down. Then you have to stop the running game, both inside and outside. Tall order to do all of this. The front 7 of SW will have to play outstanding to stop the run, pressure the QB and keep him from scrambling for big yards. Offensively South Oldham could get some good plays running the ball but the receivers had a hard time separating. It appears SW has a good passing game and their receivers will be tested to see if they can separate and then make a catch in a tight space. Can SW run effectively and then use that to get some play action or pass enough to get CovCath to have to commit more resources to stop that and open some running lanes? CovCath pressured Souths QB to where he couldn't go through progressions. Again it comes down to the guys up front. If SW protects the QB to give him time that could change the game. I have seen a little highlight tape of some of the SW games. Lacey will be a factor CovCath has to deal with. In the end CovCath has too many weapons offensively and they are athletic and disciplined on defense. The Colonels will continue their march toward state.
  17. Take Madison Southern in this one. Looking at who they each played and the stats just looks like they have a little more firepower.
  18. After seeing this CovCath team last week I have to say they are a cut above the rest of 5A. They are coached very well and I like their game planning. Don't see this being a close game at all.
  19. Great season Dragons! Not the ending anyone envisioned but CovCath is a very good team. I saw some tape on them and it was obvious they were good but in person is something different. They are solid in all phases of the game and have some exceptional players at key positions. Their discipline and technique is excellent and they execute very well. It is obvious the coaching is first rate. Congratulations to the Colonels and best of luck in the coming weeks. I will say that with who they have coming back it is clear they are a program built for continuing success. I also enjoyed talking to a few CovCath fans before the game. Seems to me a class program. To the Dragons – well done! You played hard to the end and gave it all you had. Very proud of you guys. The post game tears will fade away but the memories of what you accomplished and the work it took will never die. This is a group of graduating seniors that have a lot of firsts in school history. You have taken South Oldham football to places they have never been before and it is something you will remember the rest of your lives. Three straight Regional Finals and a trip to the semi-finals, a record of 32-7 over the last three years. Each year you had an amazing fourth quarter come from behind victory in the playoffs to keep the dream alive. Those games bring a smile whenever it comes up! Thanks to the coaches for all you have done for these young men. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. To the next classes the bar has been set a little higher and I know you are capable of taking the program to even greater heights! Go Dragons!
  20. I am thinking this game should have a pretty good crowd on hand. I have never known South Oldham to do pre-sales of tickets.
  21. Normally attendance is very good. Last week a little down with temps in the 20's and a big church retreat going on. Looks like game time temp around 50 and nothing else going on I know of. How well does CovCath travel?
  22. Very happy for my Dragons. This is a team with a lot of heart that for three years has shown a lot of grit in the playoffs. In 2015 they came back in the last minute to win the 2nd round game. In 2016 they were down 14 in the 4th quarter of the Regional Final and came back on won. Last night they were down 13 in the 4th and found a way. No quit in these kids. Couldn't be prouder of them. They don't care about all the talk or who writes what about them or their opponent. They just play. Congrats to all the players and coaches who put in the work and pulled out a great win. Go South!
  23. Loss for words. Prayers from South Oldham.
