Covington Catholic is 13-0 and continues to be a 5A Juggernaut steamrolling thru Kentucky teams with their closest margin of victory vs a KY team at 32 pts (Ryle). The Colonels routed South Oldham 49-7.

South Warren avenged their regular season loss, knocking off two-time defending State Champion Bowling Green 28-21. The Spartans are 11-2.

According to Covington Catholic’s team history webpage this will be the first ever meeting between the schools.

CalPreps has these two teams as the best in Kentucky 5A. CovCath has to make the long bus ride to South Warren. Should be a dandy!

Will be a battle. #5 runs the gaps quickly. However I will say, the Covington Catholic as put a running clock on 10 of 10 teams.

Expect the same margin of victory for CovCath.

From watching South Warren last night against BG last night, I would imagine CCH will play the same defense they played last night and dare South Warren QB to throw the ball. I watched the 2nd half and he threw the ball a couple of times last night with some success, but he didn't look real comfortable doing it. I do not know much about South Warren except what I watched last night, but if they focus solely on the run, it will be a long night for them. I also expect to see CCH QB have a great game running the ball next week. I think BG QB had several opportunities for some big gains and pick up first downs, but failed to take the free yards in front of him.

Spurrier is SW QB. He has some family that won a Heisman at UF.

CCH will beat this team 50 or 60 - 7 with most likely a first half running clock. They would have beaten BG pretty handily too.

I agree. From watching the BG/SW game last night, neither could beat this CCH team. They are that good. This is one of those years where you would love to see a CCH/Trinity match up.

Gavin Spurrier is the QB, son of Steve Jr, (Coach at WKU), grandson of the Ol’ Ball Coach himself. Kid can throw it but has weird mechanics.

CCH goes undefeated, has possibly the best team in state history, but had to travel an hour last game and three hours this game to play.

Some things are so stupid that they make me feel like having a traumatic brain injury isn't so bad.

Maybe 1-2 teams in the commonwealth can halt this passing attack and SW isn’t one. Schematically, teams just aren’t equipped.

Anyone know if South Warren has a live video stream of their home games for the folks that can’t make the trip?

I expect a close game. Play your game CCH like you have every game this year.

I think they live stream it at sporting times magazine.com
