Whole heartedly disagree in your assessment between who is the better player. Taylor is nice but IMO Faulkner is better by more than a slight margin.

In general, one of the dumbest statements ever made by fans..."a ref can't make that call at the end of a game...let the kids decide the game". Chaps my hide to no end. So in a tie ball game with 5 seconds left a kid gets the ball and sprints down the court with no dribble and hits a layup at the buzzer. Ball game over? I mean, if you are ok with a foul NOT being called at the end of a game, then this has to be ok too, right? A foul is a foul is a foul, first second or last second of a game, period, end of story.

Who would you put them over? I think they are probably right where they should be, at least for the time being.

Gosh I had to go to page 5 to dig this thread up, come on guys we've got to be doing more smoking and Grilling the this. I smoked some chicken quarters and four butterflied pork chops this past weekend my goodness were they good. Think I'm going to do a couple of pork butts this weekend for some pulled pork, then going to do some more next week for church Christmas dinner Wednesday night and potluck dinner at work Thursday.

Bylaw 9. Dumbest. Rule. EVER! I coach several high school kids over the summer and they wanted to play a couple of tournaments and in a league in late August/September (these kids don't play football, and several are basketball only). High school coaches said "heck no"! Bylaw 9. Kept these kids from competing. Kids were mad, parents were mad...just a stupid rule.

Right you are JD...you beat me to it. Same reason players on the Anderson County team can't play for me at the same time (even if I or the AC coaches allowed it, which neither of us would). If you play for a KHSAA member school, thats the only entity you can play for during the season...no AAU, no YMCA, no church league ball, nothing.

I believe this is also not allowed by the KHSAA, not during the season anyway.

They have been doing that for several years now I believe anyway (just looked at their past schedule, haven't done it the past couple of years but did it for at least 3 years in a row). KSD must have gotten a special waiver or maybe they do it and don't worry about it, I don't know.

Yes. Knowing them pretty well and having played against them for several years, this is a head scratcher for me. But good luck to them.

Yes, internal meat temp. You can get very fancy and get a "stay in" internal thermometer that constantly monitors the meat temp and can signal you once a preset temp is reached. Some even have bluetooth capability and will interact with your phone. I am still researching those but will eventually get one. Or you can go with a basic instant read digital, can get a good one usually for under $10.00 or so, and there are a lot of guys who just go with that. Pros and cons to both, but if smoking becomes a hobby, like it has for me, a good constant read thermometer is something I will eventually go with.

So I catered an event weekend before last, did about 50 lb of pulled pork for a baseball organization. Also grilled hamburgers hot dogs and brats on site. It was quite a bit of work especially doing the barbecue early refrigerating it and then warming it up, that doubled my work but using my new propane smoker I wasn't sure when I would get done with it and it smoked quite a bit quicker than my electric smoker. Barbecue came out wonderful everyone enjoyed it and I made a little money on top of it. Now I have people asking me to do other events for them. Made some pulled pork Monday along with a frenched bone-in rib roast and three racks of ribs for a fantasy football draft party. Ribs cooked a little quicker than I thought and dried them out a little but the pulled pork and the bone-in pork roast came out wonderfully.

First thing you got to learn, you can't smoke to a time you have to smoke to temperature. A good instant read digital thermometer at the very least is a must. As far as chicken goes I'd say starting with quarters is the best way to go. You want to use a lighter type of wood to smoke that, some type of fruit, Cherry, Peach are both good. Might want to add just a little bit of Hickory or Oak with that. If smoking a pork shoulder, throw the Hickory to it in my opinion the more the better. I also mix in some Jack Daniels whiskey Barrel wood with mine as well. I would keep the heat on the lower side and check meat temps more frequently until you get the hang of it. Somewhere around the 225 to 250 range.

So has Starnes got something cooking in Marion this year or was this TN team not very good? Never heard of them so I have no clue.
