I heard today only about 40 or so have shown up at Anderson County so far, and I thought that was low, for a 5A school anyway.

Guess I shouldn't have, because I am a fan. They run the "pick and roll"to perfection.

So, in essence, if the head basketball coach at Booger Holler High is working ABC camp in Lexington, no basketball player from Booger Holler can be there participating at the camp per #9.

He might be improved, and he might be the best player someday...but it won't be this year.

Smoked several chicken quarters and legs and made a pot of cowboy beans last Saturday for a fish fry/cookout after party when we finished our local Ryder Cup match. Chicken was it's usual yummy as can be and got a LOT of great comments about it, 2-3 people telling me (unsolicited) that it was the best chicken they had ever eaten.:thumb: Cowboy beans were out of this world and also got a ton of great comments, people wanting me to fix them again. This batch was a little less sweet and a tad spicier/hotter than my last batch, was lead to a better product. Again smoked 2 pounds of a very high quality hamburger than I had ground for me, and about 1 1/2 pounds of bacon to put in it. It was used as a side dish but it can very easily be a meal being as hearty as any chili.

McCreary Central is the school listed in the 1976 tournament and is the school still in operation. Is the school listing for 1976 wrong? By the way the teams listing is from a Lex Herald article.

If no high school experience, what level/where has he coached?

Though they didn't win it, Tolu (in Crittenden County) made the semi's in 30 and the finals in 31. I'd say they were about as small as anybody, and probably smaller than most. Same goes for Kavanaugh (located in Lawrenceburg, in Anderson Co. and where I live and famous for producing "Mr. Wildcat") Made the finals in 30, and in the tournament in 31 as well. I don't think they ever had a graduation class in the double digits. But again, they never won it. I bit of trivia...the house that was Kavanaugh school still exists and is now a private residence (was a bed and breakfast at one time). The gym also still exists too, though in bad shape, behind the house. A large wooden structure that looks like an old barn. I have been it it, when I first moved to the area several years ago and didn't know the history of it. Would love to go back in it again.

Dang Dragon, can't get anything past you. Yep, that's the first state tournament to have 16 teams/schools still in existence today. There was one just a few years earlier that would have fit this bill 3-4 years ago, but Monticello has closed in that time frame and they wee in the tournament.

We talking travel/summer ball, correct? I've seen coaches in tank tops and flip flops, ready to hit the lake after the game. Many a hat too...I've rocked a hat during summer ball and I'm sure I will again. As long as it's nothing "inappropriate", (a woman coach in a bikini for example) then go for it.

Ok, here are the 16 teams that competed in the 1976 state tournament (with scores). Can someone tell me what currently sets this tournament apart from every tournament before it? This is going to sound critical I know, and I don't mean it to be because I could never sit down and do all the research you did here, that took tons of work and I applaud you for that. However, with that said, I just have to think there is a fault somewhere in the data/formula if Fulton Co. doesn't show up at least in the bottom 15. Not only that, but how they wouldn't be in the bottom 3, if not the very bottom I'm not sure. I very seriously believe if you polled coaches throughout the state, especially those in WKY who are familiar with teams in that area, FC would be the county that would pass first through the lips of the majority of those coaches, and those that didn't mention them first, they would almost assuredly be second. I just wholeheartedly believe that. That's anecdotal I know, but still, there's a reason they would think that.

Then how do these high school coaches coach at the camps then? I have 2 kids I coach at the Bolus camp right now and they both have a coach from near the Louisville area coaching them. Last year had a kid that had a coach from the Lex area coaching them. Now I GUESS it's possible none of those guys had/have players at the camp...I mean that would have to be the situation, correct?

From the standpoint a job as a basketball coach, not taking anything else into consideration, I think he's probably better off where he is. Just my personal opinion. Now I'm sure there's a blue million other factors that I'm not aware of that would come into play in making a decision like that, so my opinion is specifically concerning the BS job and potential of the program.

Made about 18-20 pounds of pulled pork Saturday for a party...best so far. Added some bourbon smoked sugar during the smoke and smoked a small slice (about 5 pound) of pork belly and mixed in with the shoulders when I pulled it. It was soooo freaking good.

Though they would make an awesome back court, I just don't see that happening.

My thoughts exactly. It's not like he is at some podunk school with the gym teacher coaching the basketball team. He can stay right where he is and, assuming his talent and abilities continue to progress, and there's no reason they shouldn't, in 4 years he will literally be able to pick any school in the country he wants to go to, all without having to leave BGHS. With that said, I'm sure every top notch prep school is burning up his phone trying to get him, and there is definitely no guarantee he will stay at BG.

Of course I am glad to see this happen, but have to say I am pleasantly surprised after watching the Sr.'s play the Jr.'s the other night and saw the Jr.'s lead for much of the game and miss a good open look at the buzzer to tie it. Much congrats to the Ky Seniors.
