You're not reading the rule, you're trying top put your own interpretation to it. The Actual Rule states plainly that it includes "raising his hand" and makes no mention whatsoever as to judgement calls. The action the batter performed cannot be grounds for causing a balk. If he raised his hand, the umpire has no alternative but to assume this action caused the pitcher to stop and thus, no balk.

INCORRECT!!! you may want to reference the following in the NFHS rulebook… Rule 6.4.2.1 …. “If the pitcher, with a runner on base, stops or hesitates in his delivery because the batter steps out of the box with one foot, two feet, or holds up his hands to request “TIME”, it shall not be a balk.

Three errors officially. Two in the outfield, one in the infield. All lead to the first three runs.

Why did it have to be a bad pitch? The kid is more than capable of hitting any pitch out of about anywhere. Paper said 6 hitter, actually it was 8 and there were three earned runs.

That is incorrect. They were told last week.

While it is not a force play, it is a continuation of the batted ball because the runner did not tag up and was still in jeopardy to be put out at his original base at the time of the pitch. Runner out, no run scores.

Working for who? The larger schools? Easy to say when a school has 1200 kids to choose from versus a school with 450 in grades 7 through 12. Don't confuse the exception to the rule when a small school has won the state title with the reality that larger schools dominate the state tournaments. While there are a minority of small school programs that can compete for various reasons, the majority cannot and the scores you see in some district seeding games proves that fact alone.

This is precisely why there should be classes in baseball. Would this totally eliminate blowouts? No. But it would reduce the number of them in tournament play.

Coach Bieger is one of the best teachers of the fundamentals of the game in this region. I'm positive those young men will know how to execute and how to play the game before it's all said and done. Cooper will get bigger and stronger and wiser and will win alot baseball games very soon.

Tony Piper, while he was second or third in the area in innings thrown, received more than proper rest after each and every appearance. Nobody associated with the Bellevue program would ever overuse a pitcher and they are accutely concerned with arm care and safety. TOG, your assumption to the contrary by alluding to legislated restrictions is irresponsible and offensive and I guarantee you I know more about the situation than you do. To answer the question, look for Seniors Jim Scott and Tony Mayes and Juniors Mike Young and Chad Thompson along with Piper to do the yeoman's amount of work on the hill. All are quality pitchers and all have varsity experience to some degree or another. Seniors Bill Snider, Thomas Barrett and maybe a surprise or two will also be available.

One of the most deserving young men I have had the pleasure of seeing play. He has worked extrraordinarily hard to become a fantastic receiver and overall player. He is a fine leader and a fine student as well. I send my hardy congratulations to Corey and to his wonderful family as well.

At what point in time did it come to pass that high school athletics had ANYTHING to do with "what people want to see?" ER I usually either agree with what you say or see your logic, but this doesn't even pass the smell test. Big school fans want everything seeded and they want one class in basketball, so I guess those who attend small schools should just shut up and live with that eh? The All-A is not, as has been stated on this website time and time again, a state sanctioned "Title" of any kind. It's no different than the King of the Bluegrass as far as tournaments go, but it's usually the first line of defense for the one-class, seed everything proponents. Those same people have no problem saying the smaller schools "get the satisfaction of playing up and beating the big guys," so why not have the big guys get the same satisfaction? If the state ever mandates seeding in all districts, so be it, but why disparage schools in a district that vote, annually not to do so? In the 36th it takes three votes and that is a majority, last time I heard that is how a true democracy works. Love your support of my bloved Bulldogs, love your analysis, think your a great fan, but I can't let this one go without comment.

For someone who admittedly has seen him but a handful of times that is a most unfair comment. I know this player extremely well and I can tell you without hesitation that ranking is more than accurate. Also the list of colleges and coaches contacting this young man is most impressive. I think I'll consider their opinion to carry a bit more weight. Last year this 16 year-old kid, a sophomore, only hit .485 with 30 RBI 1o HR and 47 hits with 33 stolen bases in 39 attempts. I don't care how you all rate the competition that's impressive period. Plus Bellevue didn't play the DIII Conference games every day, just ask CovCath, Highlands, etc. Had he not suffered a pretty serious shoulder injury late in the season (yet played through it) the numbers and the outcomes of some games may have been different. This kid is a player and the rest of the country apparently realizes it. Why do some here feel the need to knock the kid constantly?

Honestly, I don't know that answer. I am only familiar with the work being done by the baseball coaches. However I'll try and find a credible answer to that question.

You are the one choosing to be offended. No one is discounting you in any way, most just disagree and your reasoning is not strong enough to change those ideas. Simple. Don't be offended, your position is yours and everyone respects that. We just happen to strongly disagree and we too have very good reasons to do so. At the Coaches Clinic and convention this past Friday and Saturday 84 of the 89 respondents (head coaches only) to a questionnaire passed out at the meeting voted in favor of classification. That is very strong folks. People who are passionate about the game and the youth that play it are in favor of classification. It has NOTHING to do with trophies or fans wishes, or anything of the sort. It is what those who work in the game believe is best for the game, the student athletes and the schools. And by the way, this initiative involves softball, soccer and volleyball as well.

I agree wholeheartedly with your question. I don't think they'd lose a dime, quite frankly I see it as a potential money infusion. However, the BOC does not see it that way. They fear losing both money and prestige if the basketball "Sweet 16" is changed. Regardless however, their fears should never be the reason for maintaining the status quo in baseball, softball and soccer.
