Couldn't disagree more. And I'm not implying anything, just simply an observation. Who this team feeds really has nothing to do with the level of talent.

Bluegrass Chiefs (18's) and the Bluegrass Seminoles (17's) are Saturday August 16th and Sunday August 17th at noon both days at Scott High School.

That's odd, the coach's themselves have stated this might be one of their best teams ever. Sounds like you maybe have an ax to grind here.

You and LN have it exactly right and that comes from a small school coach who routinely loses "in-town" athletes to neighboring schools both public and private. There is no panacea for all the ills of high school athletics and the whiners need to quit trying to find one! Want to make it simple? Apply the existing rules, classify all sports, stop placing ALL the emphasis for correcting cheating on transfers, then accept that it is as good a system as you can get and work with the results. Parents have rights too!!!

Of course money is an issue. Bellevue simply cannot compete fiscally with most other, larger schools. No news there. Support? Not sure where you're driving with that one but I don't see any problem there. No more so than in any school district at least.

While valid points you should also state the other obviuous point in that Bellevue, a small school has become a stepping stone for a number of coaches who have moved on to bigger or more prestigious schools (in their eyes). While no one in the program exactly likes the fact that this is happening, when you pick quality people and they become attractive to other places, being a SMALL SCHOOL you will lose out in a battle of money, facilities or enrollment. That doesn't mean it's an indictment of the program, just a reality of hiring coaches these days.

Only if you don't know all the circumstances surrounding that coach's decision and you make unfounded assumptions. Kind of like you're doing right now. Coach Vories had solid, important personal reasons for making his decision, not one of which is anybody's business on here but they had nothing to do with the "quality" of the program.

This is from the Junior National Team not the Olympic Team. This is a major commitment of time and energy well beyond the time of the Olympics. Possibly why he dropped but I certainly have no real idea why.

Unfortunately it is indeed true that Kent Vories has left the Bellevue program to take over as the Newport Girls' head coach. I know that Coach Vories, while he will definitely be missed by players and staff, did what he felt was necessary for his own personal situation and you absolutely cannot fault a man for that. Kent did a great job at Bellevue and as I said, will indeed be missed, but we also want to wish him well in his new endeavor. The program is by no means left bare, there is a decent returning nucleus as well as a few quality transfers, etc. that will help keep the program in decent shape. However, all of you are correct in your concern about 5 coaches in 7 years. That is indeed tough for any program to sustain under those circumstances. But, as with all athletic endeavors, you accept your losses and move forward.

I am shocked and deeply saddened by this terrible loss. Billy was indeed EM to me and to many, many more who did business there. My deepest sympathies to Bill's family and to his extended family at EM. He will be missed dearly.

In scenario 1 it would actually have to be scored a base hit. You cannot assume the out if there was no play attempt and you cannot score an error for a "mental mistake." Errors that don't happen aren't errors. At least that's how I've been taught and read.

Exactly correct. Snyder, Smith and Hadden are all quality high school pitchers.

Any criticism is unjustified unless you know the circumstances. Elliott hasn't pitched much all year so there is obviously a reason for that. Not to mention he hasn't exactly been effective save the HC no-no. I'd say the coach made a decision based on the best possible information (first hand) and who are we to question that? Unless you're one of those know-it-all armchair types who forms opinions based on . . . well, nothing.

Spare us all the unbiased claim. Anyone who can read knows better than that. Certainly you are entitled to your opinion and I'm even more certain you're convinced you're 100% right, but I'll still beg to differ with you. While CovCath absolutely plays a tougher schedule and certainly sees better pitching routinely, you simply cannot discount what this young man has done and does on a daily basis. Doing so is just simply self serving. I'll bet you a hot fudge sundae that the CovCath hitters prefer to face a good hard throwing pitcher than someone who might break 50 on a good day. GOOD high school hitters almost always have more trouble with the slow, slower, slowest fastball combined with even slower junk.

Beechwood pushes two across in the bottom of the 7th to pull it out. Colosimo gets the win in relief of Smith who came in in relief of Snyder.

Ahhhhh, quite to the contrary, Bellevue has already seen the likes of Nichols from Dixie, Towles and Muench from Highlands, Adkins from Scott, Peebles from Walton, Walters from Williamstown, etc. While you may not respect the Bellevue team, there are others that do. Not every big school game is a battle of #1 or #2's either. While Mr. Jones may not deserve that kind of recognition YET, belittling his stats with the above argument just shows you're making assumptions and not using facts.

Let me also clue you in on a couple of realities about scheduling in high school. 1. The NKAC is divided into three divisions by size. To compete in the conference yoiu MUST play each school in your division at least once. For Division III that covers six games. 2. Smaller schools usually have smaller budgets. Trips like Florida are done with parental fundraising. Busses, however, are a school expense and those funds are very limited so sometimes, trips outside NoKy aren't possible. 3. Others teams have to be willing to schedule you. Whether it is by prior reputation ot their own bias, some schools simply won't schedule certain teams. 4. By comparison to all the other Division III teams with the exception of Beechwood, Bellevue's schedule is pretty decent this year. So, while I get your point, don't fault a kid for having success.

Seems to me every team in the draw had an equal opportunity to draw any other team. What's not fair about that?

Playing at the Vets isn't that much different than Boone, Highlands and several other shorter fields. Scott isn't exactly Yankee stadium dimensions either. For the record though, three at home three on the road, and only one to the "short" side of the home field. Still got to hit them and still got to hit them hard.

Final. Five innings. Senior Roger Babb throws a one hit shutout facing the minimum 15 hitters. For Dayton James Jones singles in the first and is caught stealing. 10 strikeouts for Babb. For the Tigers Hunter Jones goes 2 for 3 with a monstrous home run in the first inning, Tony Mayes 2 for 3, Chris Weber 2 for 3 with a triple. Tigers have won 10 of their last 12 to go 13 and 10 for the year to date. Tomorrow night they take on Williamstown at Champion Windows Field at 8:00 p.m.

Nor "sensitive" at all. Just a clear cut observation.

Knew the seeding question would eventually come up. No, it doesn't change a thing as far as preferring to seed. We'll take our chances just like every other year in every other sport. Also, not surprised that SOME won't give credit where it's due. Highlands' "bad defense" was limited to a TOTAL of 3 errors and only one that lead to a run. Also, "bad defense" didn't limit them to 3 total runs, the Bellevue pitcher and defense did that all by themselves. It was a good baseball game. Highlands simply got beat. It happens.
