  1. 2nd straight shutout for the Beechies. Any stats?:dancingpa
  2. AJ Smith broke ankle in practice Friday. Has anybody heard how long he will be out.:ohbrother::ohbrother:
  3. Please Mr. Old Guy talk to Walt Turrell about this. I'm quite sure if the Smith kid went to CCH,Scott, or New Cath this would not have even warranted a post. Isler was only invited as a walk on.
  4. I agree with SHS EAGLE. Not many passes were made to the other 3 starters all night. Smith goes 6 for 17 and Murray goes 0 for 10. Can't have the two starting guards go 6 for 27 and expect to win. Definitely need to have all players get looks in the big games. Hopefully next year the guards have better consistent vision to get the ball to the open player and make the extra pass. Coach Carr needs to set tone for this type of playmaking because the Eagles will have the size advantage next year.
  5. Congrats to Scott and GRC. The refs let them play with very few calls made inside. Total of 3 fouls called in 2nd half with about 1:30 left to play. Stenzel was the difference for GRC throughout the game. Smith from Scott tried to do too much forcing shots versus looking to dump off the pass inside. Murray also had an off night going 0 for 10 from the floor. Smith ended up 6 for 17 from the floor and took some quick missed shots at the end that hurt. He is only a Soph so he will learn from this game. Scott shot 25% (6 for 24; 2 for 8 from 3pt line) from the floor in the 2nd half. Nikola should have been the go to guy every time down the stretch. Great year for Scott! Good luck to GRC tomorrow!
  6. Smith is athletic but more of a true center. Pittman was scoreless at the half and scored most of points from the charity stripe. He got his shots after BHS went to a zone. Pittman IMO is a very lazy player who wastes his abundant talent talking. Holmes congatulations, especially to MVP Johnson. Good luck to HOLmes in the tournament.
  7. :ohbrother::ohbrother: I think you forgot the Snyder kid.:eek: Have not seen Larimore pitch. Bertke is a decent pitcher; but he will be needed in the field. Beechwood this year will be very thin at the other positions.
  8. Congrats to Eagles and Coach Carr! Great job by Smith and well deserved MVP! O'Conner was the x-factor tonight with 15 pts, 8 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and many altered shots. Well deserved all tourney!
  9. The biggest travesty in voting D3 of all time has to be not giving Nate Snyder the hustle award. He is actually Beechwood's all around team leader. Shame on the rest of the coaches.:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:
  10. I've watched this Beechwood team 4 times this year and every time I see a team with all 5 guys doing their job. Tonite was a perfect example: 1st half even contribution of scoring and Schneider goes to bench with 2nd foul ; the Smith kid did not allow Isler to score where CCH should have pushed the ball down low with their big guys. Huge mistake on Listerman!! All six players contributed excellent. Obviously Beuttel dropping 20 on CCH in 2nd half, Hall big layups (DRIVING),Snyder key jump shots, Smith's big stick back on rebound and not allowing Isler anything down low,Romes relentless driving and determination, and do not forget the Pohlgeers 3 pointer from as deep as you can get. Hats off to Beechwood and Coach Shumate who clearly outplayed, hustled, and outcoached CCH. Don't worry Old Guy your tem will return it's glory soon enough!! Great job Luke and congrats on 1,000 pts.
  11. O'Conner got into foul trouble in 1st Q on some terrible calls. Took one shot all game. He had 3 or 4 assists and many times the offense started through him up high. Refs let the battle inside get out of hand on several occassions which favored HHS.
  12. I'll agree with the refs lack of skills last night. Beechwood is struggling right now and it reared it's ugly face last night. Beechies offense is so out of whack!! The team concept of basketball PASSING has been forgotten. I'm sure Coach Shumate will have this corrected soon or an early district departure is imminent. Beechswood's big guy need to get more physical and look to shoot. Guards will need to dish ball off more ; if they want wide open looks for the three. Romes seems to be pressing and the rest of the team is standing around watching. A loss to Villa might have been a great wakeup call, but good teams can pull through. The Schneider kid plays hard and is probably going to have to step up and become a leader. This team needs a leader on the floor badly. Congrats to Beechies on the win and a big round of applause for Villas strong effort.
  13. Very nice win for the Eagles! Many unforced turnovers in first half. Smith seemed to force too many shots and long passes which is why Conner had the big run in 2nd quarter. Scott also needs to get the ball inside more. Come tournament time they will need a balance of inside and outside scoring.:banana::banana:
  14. Beechwood's big men will come up shorts against H.C.'s quicker guys. small floor will favor Indians.:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
