Its true that the QB position talent compared to Lorenzen, Guidugli, Towles, and Hoge have greatly dropped off. However the "eights" and some of the "tens" were playing both ways under Dale. That is not happening today. Today the "eights" and "tens" are divided up Off and Def. (not evenly in my opinion) and they even get subbed when they are playing half of a game or more than half as the defense has seen a lot more playing time recently. I respect the desire to keep guys fresh and limit injuries however you are not going to compete in a higher class 5A or class 4A (Boyle) if you do not maximize the talent you have. From what I see, HHS has a lot of guys dressing 74 total per their roster with 30 seniors. All the guys are working hard to get better and I am sure the coaches are looking at ways to get them on the field as best they can. However this is a drain on the talent pool of "eights" and "tens" and will have an affect on the teams performance.

HHS is close in size to 4A Boyle County. Just slightly more boys and they lost 30-0. Since HHS is playing up in 5A the talent issue is more pronounced. Maximizing talent on the field is especially crucial playing up in class and that is the coaches responsiblity. From my prospective the current system being used maximizes participation not talent.

It's not just the offense that could use some help. There are athletic receivers that could help the DB position.

The coach of HHS defense is not giving his one way players to the offense. When he coached the offense he did not share with the defense so why now. Sad to say, we all know in today's world winning is not everything. Its about kids participating - right? NOT.

I think BW's use of those guys both ways were desperate times takes desperate measures. His priority as always been to platoon guys so they can focus on their position and keep them fresh and healthy. My issue has been the unwillingness to adjust the system to the talent level. Being a mid 4A size school playing in a very competitive 5A class requires a coach to be willing to make adjustments in personnel outside of your core system. The schedule for 2019 will present challenges and require adjustments to play guys both ways. Thru the season we will see if they can make the correct adjustments.

Doesn't Highlands get some bonus points for playing up in class and winning titles? I believe the others on the list played in their assign class by KHSAA (boy population).

I also believe that some of the best players on CCH will play at a higher level after High School than the current HHS talent. The only exception I see is Huddleston could compete with the CCH talent. However because the talent on CCH spends more time on the field than the HHS talent made a bigger difference in the outcome of this game.

Unlike the HHS Coach, the CCH Coach is using their best talent on both sides of the ball. The HHS coach refuses to play guys both ways and apply their talent where it can be maximized on the field. The HHS head coach switch from OC to DC and took over the defense, his old position when Dale ran the offense. This change has made the defense much better than in the past. However the Offense has not improved as much. I believe as a mid size 4A school playing up is 5A the coaches have to maximize the use of their best talent. In the past the offense always had a strong quarterback, I am not seeing that now. I believe in part because they are not utilizing the talent they have and the QB play has been adversely affected.

It would be interesting to see how many schools on this list played up in class and for how many years. Of course I understand you can't play up if your school is already in the largest class.

You could be correct that there might not be much to take over if the HHS QB can't make quick reads and make the short up field pass.

To keep the game from becoming a running clock HHS offence will need to give the defense some rest. The one run and two pass then done is not going to cut it. The defense is much improved but they need time off the field. If the starting QB is not able to complete the short route up the field pass then JV QB needs to come in and take over. Also it will be a along night if HHS does not make changes with personnel and start playing guys both ways.

After a long delay because they could not process all the crowd (unanticipated) they opened the gate and let people in for free. First the lower level of the stadium filled to capacity and then they opened the top sections. Even with the free entry they still collected in the 6 figure range for the game. HHS lost the game on a controversial play that the big screen replay showed the Ref's error but because there was no review the play stood as called. Was a good game and fun night.

The Roster in the HHS program has him listed in the 11th Grade 6'1" 180lbs. That is what I was using as a reference.

In my opinion if the JV QB was not a Junior but a Senior he might be the stater this year. It would be a interesting QB competition. However he is just a Junior so he has to wait his turn.

When I compared the records of the HHS classes at the JV and Frosh records that had a losing record and how they fared at the Varsity level, I was told on here that you cant equate the JV and Frosh games to what will happen when they are varsity players. At the time I believed that the Frosh and JV results should have some correlation to future results. I guess will see as the future unfolds.

HHS still is not utilizing players both ways. In this game it worked out and they wore down the two way Lex Cath. players. If they want to contend in 5A that needs to change. HHS is a 4A size school playing up into 5A so the best players need to be on the field more to compete. I get that playing only one way helps reduce injuries and guys get more time to learn positions and rest in games but to compete in 5A they need there best on the field.

Last weeks game at Campbell Co was on You Tube under HHSFilmAndBroadcast channel - it was streamed but I could not get sound only video. I could not find any advance notice if it will be on again this week. Just have to wait and see.

CovCath has enrollment of 598.8 boys average In class 5A the range is a Low of 556 to high of 724.8 There are 7 schools with lower avg enrollment in 5A than CCH. HHS has enrollment of 486.3 boys average In class 4A the range is low of 430.5 to high of 552.5 There are 11 schools in 4A with larger enrollments than HHS In previous alignments both CCH and HHS were both 4A size schools playing up. Now only HHS is 4A.

Had to wait to get tickets. Gym is packed and they had to see if there was room for more. Luckily we got in. Finding seat anther challenge.

There are seven schools with lower enrollment numbers in 5A. Covcath is larger than South Warren, Frederick Douglas, Whitley County, Collins, Johnson Central, Logan County, and Hopkinsville.
