  1. West Jessamine is clearly an example of a 5A school play down in 4A 599 (4 year avg) with last two year Avg at 618. Not sure why they are not in the discussion? 4A popluation range is 412 - 556
  2. There are 5 schools that have a 4A population playing in 5A Nelson County - 448 4yr Avg Perry County - 478 Letcher County - 484 Highlands - 488 Harlan County - 545 5A population starts at 557 thru 708 South Warren is listed at 555.75 4 yr avg. however their Avg last two yrs is 567
  3. Nice analysis. The difference between 4A and 5A would have been much closer if HHS and Cov Cath had not moved up to 5A.
  4. Cov Cath is the second largest school if they were in 4A only behind Johnson Central. I believe they will grow and would fall in 5A next alignment. I am not sure how much schools share there plans but Conner and Cooper were suppose to be in 5A. Dixie was 6A. When Conner and Cooper moved up Dixie moved down. If only Cov Cath and HHS moved up you would have a district with Cov Cath, HHS, Cooper and Conner.
  5. A mid 4A size school playing a 6A schedule other than district play will have success some years and not so much other years. Its at tribute to the HHS football program that they have more successful years than not. With success the coaches have established a platoon system and have player rotation within the platoon. All of this is to make the team stronger thru the games and to allow for individual players to get on the field to support the team. They have over 90 players - Soph. thru Seniors playing JV and varsity. The kids put in the hard work and the coaches find spots for kids to play even if they are not the stud athletes. On BGP you hear parents that feel their boy is not getting to play yet they are better than the Seniors that play. Also there were some who wanted to shorten the bench and play guys both ways. This is the result of not having the same success as in the past but the chatter will disappear in the future when the depth of the team improves. I believe the coaches believe in the system they established (platoon and rotations) and will make only small adjustments even if they are losing to 6A schools. Championships will come but not the annual event like the resent past now that they are playing up in class.
  6. Highlands (454 boys) is smaller than South Warren (489 boys) Highlands would be in 2A if there were only 3 classes. I sure HHS would be in the mix for state title with 3 classes
  7. According to KHSAA data for determining class shows Trinity (1,294 boys - Avg 4 yrs) the second largest school in the state 6A class only behind St Xavier (1,377). HHS is a 4A size 454 boys playing 5A with a range of 529 to 698 boys. Given the size of HHS playing up in class you can expect some years will not be as strong and will show when playing mostly 6A schools outside of district teams. I believe their decision to move up to 5A was due to district opponents in 4A vs 5A.
  8. 4A has 2 NK - Holmes, and Scott with Bourbon County, Harrison County, Mason County 5A District is Covington Catholic, Dixie Heights, Grant County, Highlands Dixie is 6A school that choose to move down and play 5A Highlands is middle 4A school playing up Cov Cath 2nd largest 4A (just behind Johnson Central) playing up
  9. Highlands Number of boys used for current alignment 455 (4 yr Avg) Mid 4A size playing class 5A Roster this Year SR = 29 JR = 34 SO = 31 Tot = 94 (20% of Boys)
  10. I believe HHS has around 94 Jimmy/Joes 29 Seniors 34 Juniors 31 Soph If I understand - The elephant in the room is how the coach's balance the programs expectation with player participation? The last two quarters of the Semi Final game only the best Jimmy/Joes into the game.
  11. Try Internet Radio Highlands vs Woodford County - TEAM 1
  12. Many factors play into the win/loss records between the freshmen year and Senior/Varsity year. The schedule you play. The players development (their growth and size). How hard they work. Family transfers - who moves out of the district and who moves in. The number of guys that play. Just some I can think of. I am sure there are others. I just was interested in seeing the data on how each class preformed to see if there were any relevance. Because it is impossible to filter the data based on the competition being strong or week each season, the records by themselves can be questionable. However when you look at freshmen class of 2010 going 10 win and 0 loss record and then their Junior year going 7 and 2 losing only to Moller and La Salle you would think they would have won State but lost to Collins and Elder there senior year. The Freshmen class of 2012 had a record of 6 and 3 losing to Trinity, Beechwood and Ryle. Then their Junior year they have a 1 and 5 record with losses to Cambell Co, CCH, Trinity and two Ohio team. Before this season would you anticipate a current record of 2 and 5? I am not sure but it does provide a concern. I do not feel the records are always going to tell you future results but they are one interesting point to review.
  13. Yes, I looked up Highlands records since 2010 for FR/JV/V. Sorry, I should have identified the team.
  14. Do records of Freshman and JV games provide a forecast of future results?
  15. List goes from Freshman (FR) Year then to Juniors (JV) then Seniors (VA). Start was 2010 Freshman to 2012 Juniors to 2013 Varsity Also shows the Teams were a lose was recorded. Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2013 VA 13 2 Elder Collins 2012 JV 7 2 Moller La Salle 2010 FR 10 0 Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2014 VA 13 2 Columbus(FL) Elder 2013 JV 6 1 Scott Co 2011 FR 7 3 Trinity Boone Ryle Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2015 VA 2 5 Cooper Scott Co St X(KY) Simon Ryle 2014 JV 1 5 Cambell CCH Trinity St X (OH) Elder 2012 FR 6 3 Trinity Beechwood Ryle Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2016 VA ?? ?? 2015 JV 5 2 La Salle Simon 2013 FR 5 4 Simon Beechwood CCH Ryle Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2017-VA ?? ?? 2016-JV ?? ?? 2014-FR 3 5 Cambell CCH Ryle Dixie Conner Year Age Win Loss (Loss to Team) 2018-VA ?? ?? 2017 -JV ?? ?? 2015-FR 6 2 Trinity CCH VA Varsity JV Junior Varsity FR Freshman
  16. I will add the OLine to the list of ? When the QB goes to pass and is pressured Int"s or in completions have been the result. Trying to move the pocket has not helped much. When pressured he is better off running the ball. Also, can't have the defender hitting the running back before he reaches the line of scrimmage. This is why you play the tough schedule at the beginning of the year to expose issues that need to be addressed. Hope with the week off some of the protection and assignment issues show better results.
  17. Do schools decied to move without consuliting other schools or are they working together to make their decision. Requesting to move from 4A to 5A HHS (enrollment 454) and CCH (522) while Dixie (754) agrees to move down to 5A. Boone (726) has a smaller enrollment than Dixie (754) and declined the request to move down while Cooper (576) and Conner (650) request to move up from 5A to 6A. Scott (541) agrees to move down to 4A. How much does each school know about the decisions of the other schools? There were 23 schools making a decision (up, down or stay) and 7 were in NKY - 30%.
  18. Link below; http://khsaa.org/football/realignment/20152018/ListingbyClassbyEnrollmentwithEnrollments.pdf PDF that shows the realignment with what school moved up and what schools moved down and who declined to move down.
  19. HHS gets aggressive - O has big lead and tries to hang on. O has the pressure and fatigue factor with the lead and HHS being more fresh and determined win the game.
  20. Owensboro will have to start throwing some. HHS DB needs to be ready and not get beat down field.
  21. Pregame interviews - Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKR6yjfalBA
  22. I like the students having the opportunity to announce. Just make sure they have the support in the booth to provide accurate data.
